| No not really the speed is not controlled by the car as such but by the hydraulic pressure regulated by the pump you would have to find a way to speed up the pump but this would also raise pressures and will more than likely cause damage especially when the roof contacts the stops in the trunk if it was moving at much more speed than it does now i would be worried about denting it.

| I really wouldn't play with the kinematics of the roof. This is pretty complicated design and everything is balanced to work at a certain speed.

| Just a thought SLKman have you had your system pressure if the roof is slowing down maybe its losing pressure somewhere

| No. No mechanical problem here. Nor would I think of tackling the hydrolics. I was just wondering if maybe there was an easy way to speed it up. |

| It does take a few more seconds longer on the R170 than the R171. It's about 22 seconds on the R171.

| Well, if you really were bugged by the Top up/ down speed. GO watch a caddy XLR put its roof up and down. My best friend has one, and I can put mine up and down in almost the time it takes his to go one way. |

| wish it was all 16 seconds like the SL. It isn't that bad when you have the CVM b/c you could just drive off whenever but when I didn't have it, I didn't drop/raise the top that much at the traffic light.

My scenario, pulling out of my garage, roof is down before I turn on the street. Get to work. Walk away from my car, 3 clicks on the remote and the top is going down while I'm walking to the building. Leaving work, 3 click on the remote at about 100 feet out and the top is down before I get to the car. Driving, top down, looks like rain, next stop light, start the top going up, make sure I don't acclerate past 30mph until cycle complete. | |

| Please remember, SLKman drives the R170. The Bipes module is suited for this. I am not aware if piecha makes a varioroof module for the R170.
