NR4L - I thought the fog lights took a different size bulb than the standard headlight H7 bulb?

For those with the lighting package (which includes corner lighting feature) use H7 bulbs. For those without the lighting package, you have the 9006 bulbs. This is due to the optics of the bulb itself inside the fog light. H7 has a wider beam then the 9006 as it is mostly used in headlights. And with the cornering feature that is the key.

They do have a website, however i am not sure if the prices are the same as Ebay prices. (seems to be cheaper if you email them through Ebay for a price quote) Front Turn Signals: 3157 (same as 3457) Rear Turn Signals: 1156 You can see the Silver/Chrome bulbs there. No actual part# for them. Just called chrome or Silver online. superlumination@cox.net www.autolumination.com Just an FYI, if you ever need to search for a bulb replacement type, you can always search at http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProd...de/default.htm Has a search for any car. Another interesting bit i found was that they sell a very unique ball they call the D-Cell flasher. It is actually a 1157 bulb that flashes for a few seconds then goes steady on just as the module i am working on for the center brake light. However there is a MAJOR advantage. Apparently they claim their circuit ONLY flashes when there is a sudden harsh braking. This would be AMAZING for my module. Downside is that they are 1157 bulbs and are completely useless to us in the R171 SLK as we don't use 1157 bulbs for brake lights. I am going to contact them for details. Perhaps i can retrofit their 1157 bulb to our center brake light application.

| I kinda like the module you're working on as you can change the mode depending on your mood . Plus, I like it when it bursts/flashes three times and then goes constant when the brake pedal is engaged and not just ONLY on panic stops.

| Good point etyu. I am still going through with my module, however it would of been great if we had an additional mode on my module such as the one described above. Doubt i can put both together, but figured i would throw the info out there I think their bulb has a mini "ball & contact" type sensor used in motion alarms. Pretty much means that when you throw some G-Forces on the unit, it send the little metal ball to the contacts and makes the connections. Otherwise it is conneted constantly if leveled. |

| Do you still need resistors with these bulbs?

I actually did not have time last night to install everything in. Birthday outing came up and i found myself pulling into the driveway at 5:30am I did however install the Rear turn signal, which by the way IS NOT 1156 as instructed. It is the Euro bulb similar to the 1156 but the pins are at a slight angle and not opposite each other like 1156. Easy to get it in, just shave off one of the pins. So the Chrome looks good, and is a bid darker amber color then stock. However the bulb is a bit dimmer due to the mirror coating on the outside. Nothign major but noticable. Also installed the 50W rear backup bulb. This one was indeed a true 1156. It appears to be noticable brighter then the stock bulb. However i am fearing that heat will be an issue as it gets really hot, really fast. Not that i reverse for more then a few sec. But still causious of melting something. The 194 bulb for the parking lights in the front is a nice mirror coating as well. The tint of the bulb is drastically whiter then the stock, however dimmer, once again due to the mirror coating on the outside. I do however like it a bit this way. As i never felt that i really needed those lights anyway. Didn't get a chance to install the front turn signals as they are a MAJOR PAIN to get to. I'll need to drop the pannel in the wheel well for that. Raining here yesterday so not much i could do. Will post some pics when i get a chance though. Thus far impressions are 50/50 statisfied vs not. I guess i had high expectations for brightness and color. Sorry for all the reading... at work here on 2.5hrs of sleep after a long night out , getting kind of loopy

I've often stated, I wish I didn't need to sleep. I could get so much more accomplished per day. I get an average of about five to six hours per night. Anything more, makes me lazy.

| Well here are the results. What do you think? Each bulb contains 9 white LEDs, for a total of 18 on the rear plate. ![]() The pavement below has a nice clean cut line to it as well. Quite bright. ![]() Front Parking lights ![]() ![]() Last edited by noregret4life; 08-27-2006 at 10:09 PM. |
