Unhappy Roll Front Fenders - Rubbing Issues

Got some DCR Hockenheims put in on my car last weekend. Dropped using Eibach Pro Kit springs (1" all around). Riding on Falken FK-452 tires. 235/35/19 in the front and 265/30/19 in the rear.

Now I'm having rubbing issues in the front (glad I didn't go with H&Rs). It'll rub when I hit bumps on the road and when I turn the wheel all the way. Only a slight rub though. Thinking because the front tires are straight side-walled instead of angled in as the rears are. Kind of stange how Falken did that.

Q: Is it bad to roll the fenders?? What kind of damage any would result from bad workmanship?

Before you consider rolling the fenders, where are you rubbing? Is on the outside edge? Are there any signs of this? (wearing outside wall, melted rubber on the inside of the fender)

Rubbing on outside edge. Where the sidewall meets the threads. Only slight rubbing though. I touched the inside fender and hardly feel any burned rubber, but I do know that it rubs because of the sound it makes.

I wonder if it's the tire brand? DCR has made quite a few sets for the SLK350 already, so i can't imagine them getting the wrong offset. Rolling the fenders isn't bad, many people do it but I believe the front is already rolled from the factory, so you might not be able to roll it anymore w/o a new paint job.

I think it's the rear that cannot be rolled. The fronts have a little room.

SLK55er did it here:

and here:

Solution:

Changed the fronts to 225/35/19. No more rubbing issues, though the fronts have about 1 and half finger space. Definately looked better with just 1 finger space like the backs.

Otherwise, really satisfied with it.

I am glad you went with the tyres rather than rolling fenders and as Ynot said we want to see some top notch pictures of your car after the wheels.

Interesting...i'm running 245s in the front on 18s...Anyhow, rolling the fenders are really not a big deal, it should be routine for any large tire/wheel shop. As a matter of fact, i think all cars should come from the factory with the fenders rolled.

Cyberdrakon,

So, what sizes are you running all around? Also, you're lowered on Brabus springs right?

^^^ Wow... and you don't rub at all?

I bought some track tires for my 18" but kept the sizes at OEM for fear of rubbing. Maybe I should re-evaluate things.

Really surprised you're not rubbing. Must be the AMG suspension!
