Default Newbie with Wheel question THANK YOU!!

Hello everyone,
I recently purchased a 2007 SLK 280 and would like to upgrade my wheels.

I have fixed up numerous cars in the past so I am pretty familiar with the modding world, just not with regards to my new SLK LOL.

Anyways. I would like to throw on some 18s that most closely resemble the SLK 55 AMG wheels like these:

Questions:
1. What is the correct offset that I need to look for? (example: will an offset of 25 work or is it too low)
2. Will I be able to direct install the SLK 55 rims onto my SLK 280 or will I need to modify?
3. Any recomendation for other companies that make replica SLK 55 AMG wheels or any companies that make similar wheels to that of the SLK 55 AMG.

Thanks everyone

Everyone will have an opinion. Here's mine. The first change I made to my SLK 55 was a new set of 19" wheels. The factory SLK 55 wheels are OK, but not stylish enough for me. Cleaning was also an issue. Time consuming but not impossible. Look around the various forums at SLK pics, that will give you an idea of what's available. Plenty of wheels for sale online with prices that will be hard to beat. Good luck with the SLK and post a pic of the finished product.

Congrats on your new purchase and welcome to the forum.

I'd said this on our PM but I'll post this here for the rest of the forum

1. Factory offset is 37mm front and 30mm rear, so 25mm offset will not fit.

2. I don't see a problem, IIRC the SLK55 rims are exactly the same offset as above, it should be a direct fit. There were a few SLK55 owners selling their SLK55 wheels, if you are looking for replicas, I would get them closer to those numbers (offset)

3. There are a lot, TSW comes to mind for some reason, do a search for my post on wheels on mbworld.org and benzworld.org.

Good luck in your search.

Welcome.

Keep in mind that offset depends on the width of the rim you choose.

Realize, the the car you have pictured is a black series amg. The wheels on those are slightly different color, and 19's i believe instead of the 18's that come on a 55 that are basically the same design.

Just a heads up. EVeryone else got to what i was gunna say.

Mate, I dont think its a black series in the pic, i think they made it to look like the black series since the front fenders doesn't have the black series version... i dunno maybe an early version of the black series.... but i agree with you about all the other stuff... and offset depends on the width of the wheel your goin but usually 171's require high offsets... surf around online and you will for sure get the kind you are looking for... i agree with don that too many spokes = too much time and effort to clean but looks good....

this link has a DPE forged wheel that somehow resembles the stock 55 and i personally think it looks good... btw welcome!!!
