Default Beware of Seva wheels

So I've been kinda promoting Sevas wheels due to the price, they sure look good but the old saying stays true, "You get what you pay for."

Please be careful. There has been a lot of troubling stories lately with the Sevas wheels.

Don't know why it did that but link should be fixed, if not then, just type in the whole word, replace ... with "showthread"

As much as a wheel failure is scary (make that very scary) the failure of one wheel wont bring a car to its knees no matter what speed it fails at.

The other 3 will be more than capable of supporting and balancing the weight of the car allowing you to bring it to a controlled stop.

What i would be scared of is the shrapnel, the pics in the last linky show really well the explosive force they have and when you have a car like the SLK with wafer thin skin its not going to have any real effect on the speed those pieces are moving at.

Only takes one of the fronts to fail and your legs are right in the firing line or for a rear to go and punch a hole in the tank so it can piss fuel onto the hot exhaust, I've not had time to read the threads from start to finish but hopefully they all understand that picking aftermarket wheels is not like picking what amount of tint to use, they are a vital part of the car and form follows function not the other way around and you make exceptions to that rule at your peril.

Not one of the things you can go cheap on.

Not good. Curious, what country are the Sevas wheels manufactured? Plenty of other cheap wheels (Taiwan) etc., on most of the vehicles you see everyday.

Notice the amount of counter weights required to balance the wheel.

Exactly Dan, that's why I don't buy replica's, there are some good ones out there but still risky. I'll stay with forged wheels as they have be proven to be durable and strong during extreme conditions.
