For the AF (aluminum foil) method, I use a regular 3-hole puncher. The diameter is about right, about 0.5 to 1 mm wider on each side (a tad larger than the hole on the sidemarker). There are 3 holes to plug per sidemarker. I recommend shortening the screw with the motor tool by 2-3mm so that when this is threaded in, it won't push your aluminum plug further. No glue is necessary, I had the same clear sidemarker with AF plugs on the 280 for more than a year and they haven't budged. Now I have the same on the 55. (Orange/amber OEM sidemarkers were placed backed on the 280 before trading it in). The wooden dowel should be of such a diameter that it slides in smoothly into the holes (about 0.5 mm less in diameter than the holes). You can always sand it to a smaller diameter if it is too snug or tight, but don't overdo it.

| So I went to pick up my friend at his school and he was driving my car back to get something to eat. While he was driving he noticed a police car and told me promptly put on my seatbelt. I latched it on and he drove pass the cop and onto the next intersection. Everything was nice and peachy until we drove past the intersection and the cop turned on his sirens. My friend pulled over and we were both wondering what he did to get pulled over. As the cop walked up my friend realized he forgot to bring his DL and he knew he was going to get it. He then asked him where the car's license plate was( the car is new so the plate hasn't been sent but we have the temp ). We told him the reason and he ask for my friends DL and my friend told the cop he forgot to bring his DL and gave him all his info. After that he told us to put our hands on the dashboard, suffice to say people drove by and thought we just stole the car. 5 Mins later and the cop comes back and said everything checks out and said that he should've given my friend a ticket for not having his DL but he was going to let it slide if we can answer him a few questions. My friend, of course, said yes and the cop wanted to know how much I got this car for, and I told him it was purchased at a auction and we got it for 10k less than the KBB price. He then asked where he can get it for that price so I gave him my dad's cell phone number since he works at a dealership and has a license. After all was said and done, my friend said that his close friend, who was a cop, told him this was going to happen as he was taking us to the gun range. As it turns out, the citing officer use to work with my friend's friend and they were just talking about random things until it started raining and the citing officer went on his way. All in all, I have to say it was the weirdest traffic stop ever. |

| My guess is that your friend who was driving may be driving a tad fast or both of you looked very young to be in a Mercedes Benz.

| I also got pulled over for making a rolling stop at a stop sign and instead of giving me a ticket the cop asked me how much i got the car for and what i do for work being that i'm under 30 and driving a mb sports car... hehehe funny how sometimes cops tend to "profile" people by what car they drive.... everyone in my neighborhood thinks i'm dealing drugs with the vehicles i have but i know it's all good... I know that it isn't true anyway... |
