| Thank you - 1 - for your help, I just found it on page 14 . Does it matter if the double din screen is 6'5 or 7 inch? I might give the D3 to my sister and get the next incarnation of the z3. Thank you for you compliment, but very dull compared with everyone elses car . If I am to purchase a external mod, I will be interested in getting the brabus lip spoiler and roll bar. Beyond that, I've just been getting hand me downs from friends that have slks, heh.Hey etyu, I am planning to purchase the clear corners for sure. Probably right before I have Umnitza install the LED turn signals. I thought about the smarttop mod, but the features doesn't wow me enough to justify the cost. As I understand it, it will allow me to put up or down the top while in motion and remote roof operations. Features that I don't mind not having, unless I'm missing something. Oh and I live in the SF bay area. Hey baron, my sister was actually the one that wanted the SLK, I wanted the SL but bought the SLK since I needed a car. So i've been trying to tell her to get the SL so we can trade . |

It allows remote function by clicking 3x on the lock/unlock buttons on the SmartKey (keyfob), so by the time you reach the car the roof position of choice is already done. One doesn't have to stand, aim, press and hold the keyfob for 22 seconds. Moreover, you can open and close the door (enter and exit the car) as the roof is doing its thing without having to wait for the roof operation to finish, just be very careful and watch your head. It allows window operation remotely using the key fob (2 clicks instead of 3). Operating the roof while in the car only requires a brief one-click movement of the roof control lever in the center console. No need to press and hold for more than 20 seconds. Quite useful also is the operation of the roof while the car is in motion (slow speed recommended, no speed bumps, up to 30 mph, which I've done once or twice at this speed but usually at 10-15 mph). This, in my humble opinion, is most helpful when one decides to operate the roof while stopped at a red light and the traffic signal changes while the roof is in motion. No worries, start moving slowly and in a few more seconds the choreographed roof movement will be complete and you're on your merry way with a big . As a bonus, this part does turn heads, just ask Ynot.Cost of the roof module isn't that much more painful than the HID's. If you were in SoCal, I'd offer to do the free install (no wire taps but a stealthy install with power draw from the fuse box).

No disrespect regarding Brabus parts. You have the HID xenons. How about the AMG style rear spoiler, SmartTop module, and some 18" or 19" wheels. All three are a must have for me, but I'd start with new wheels.

| I also recommend that SmartTop. It really is nice to just get in the car and go because the top was able to go down while I was walking out of work. It is a surprisingly useful mod. It really is the way it should have been in the first place. |

| I believe MB employees can get most parts at cost, in which case it'll be more cost effective getting the AMG parts, e.g., rear spoiler.

| I wish I can say money isn't an issue, but when it comes to the looks of my car, as in my hand purses and cloths, I'll go the extra mile. Although being able to get discounts on them will be a plus. Now where do I go and get that smart top? ![]() One question though, does getting a ECU upgrade allow my car to be able to shift faster? I'm use to driving a manual and I find myself having to shift a second ahead of time just so I don't redline when racing. And yes, I do race. |

| To be honest with you when it comes to the SLK i think AMG has hit the nail on the head and Brabus have gone a tad overboard with the styling. As for the ECU I've mentioned this in other threads basically please please stay away from them, they can void both your engine and electronics system warranties and are automatically over-written everytime your car goes into Merc for service, and your car is naturally aspirated its not got anymore power to give from the ECU what it needs is more air. As for the shifts thats actually a separate control module again so an ECU mod wont have any effect on the function of the TCU.

| Interesting, where do you get the separate control module for the shifts? As for more air, I wish they made some sort of aftermarket f/i but I haven't been able to find it. That leaves me with just getting a better air filter? The only two things I really wanted from barbus is the silver cf roll bars and the lip spoiler. As for rims, I haven't started looking yet, but I'm open to suggestions. |

| For your air intake i would look into filters and an increased capacity airbox, you could have the manifold chromed if you really wanted or you could look at the exhaust system and remove restrictions possible also some cam's if your really serious. Not sure what you mean about the transmission sorry? It has a control unit from the factory just like the engine does and it manages all the shifts. On the 7G box its called the VGS and its built into the tranny housing its only upgradeable by Mercedes.

| You mean getting the green filter from the site, didn't think it made much of a difference if I just changed the filter. As for the increased capacity airbox, where will I be able to acquire said airbox? heh My friend is one of the only few certified AMG techs allowed to work on the SLRs, but will he be able to use the factory equipment to reprogram the control unit? I didn't ask ask him about it yet because I wasn't sure if they have the tools to do it in house. As for the rear spoiler, I saw the AMG one and still prefer the brabus |

| SmartTop module: check www.mods4cars.com. They also have a list of distributors.

If you can't find one i would go for headers they would be more expensive but you can expect about 20bhp from them. Your friend will be able to update the control units with Mercedes software but not aftermarket stuff, i can't really think of anything else to speed up the box apart from custom software but again your friend would not be able to install it for you and nobody makes a TCU upgrade for the SLK so it would need to be custom made. Brabus also make some performance packs for the 350 it might be worth you looking into them? For Brabus parts i would recommend going directly to Brabus USA don't bother with distributors because they all add mark up, Brabus will sell to you directly.

| Thank you very much for the advice Dan, I will be sure to ask my friend from Mercedes to see what he can do. As for as the Brabus parts go, I'll try to find a local distributor from Brabus's website. I was wondering which exhaust system you guys recommended. |

| What would you guys suggest for the sidemarker bulbs? Amber or white? The reason I ask is that when you start the slk headlights the side lights turn on and because I'm planning on modifying the bulbs in my slk once I get it, I was wondering whether I should just stick with amber or go for white. If I go for white, when I have the indicators on, it will look weird with the mirror being amber and my front turn indicator lamps being amber, but my side markers being white. However, if I go for amber, then when my headlights are on, the side markers will be amber. Are there any laws regarding these things btw? I just wish we didn't have those GD sidemarkers. They ruin the front. |

| , Haha. I suppose it really depends on where you live in the US, in California, your turn signals; sidemarkers and courtesy light can be white but not blue. The rear must be either yellow or red. So for my setup, I think I will be going amber all around since you can't really change the LEDs inside the mirrors unless you take it apart. Personally I haven't seen anyone making aftermarket turn signals in white LEDs. |
