More Facelift things!!

Evening all ...

As some of you may have guessed from my for sale thread (The Digital Climate Control) I've been doing a bit more of 'Project Facelift" - Nothing sinister so sorry to dissapoint!

This time, its the Upper Control Panel (UCP) switchgear and Digital AC Controls ...

Before .. silver switchgear

And after, with black switchgear

It matches the steering wheel buttons nicely, and also the head unit buttons too ....

(Still working on the fascia - not my best work by a long way!!)

The CSM button is proving difficult to find though!

Nothing really to write up in terms of a 'How to' - it;'s just one in, one out (and a quick DAS reset of the AC system as I didn't want to disconnect the battery)

Seat switches (again, black to silver) and air vents next ....

Buttons Peeling

Hello Sean. The change in the buttons is brilliant. My question is are they new replacement buttons or they a new vinyl covering? On my NTG2.5 Comand several buttons are peeling so if it is new vinyl button covering where are you getting them from. Regards Martin

I *think* it's a complete new climate control unit, not a button refurb.

Looking good Sean (as always)!

Is the objective to have the first fully facelift SLK, that was registered in 2005?!

Sort of ... I like the styling changes, especially the darker buttons, wing mirrors and bumper

The IC change was necessitated by the TPMS retrofit so I kind of thought I'd go the whole hog so to speak.
Plus it gives me a project to tinker with ...

So far ..

External changes done
Wheels
Antenna
Wing Mirrors

External changes to do

Front bumper
Headlights

Internal changes done
Instrument cluster
Steering wheel
Climate control
Upper control panel
Window switches

Internal changes to do
Seat buttons
CSM Button
Heater vents

I love the facelift changes too, particularly the exterior... I've done the antenna and the mirrors, but have no plans to do the front bumper and headlights. I look forward to reading about the next phase of your 'project'...

Afternoon all..

Quick update on this one ... there's a few more interior things ticked off the list ...

Namely the heater vents (the thumb wheels & direction controls are black on the facelifts) and the seat switches - again , black on the facelift SLK's..
(dropbox is playing up at the mo, so I can't put this pics inline at the minute...)

I'll post some 'as installed' pics later , along with a few of the in-progress pics - you won't believe how fiddly it is getting the thumb wheels out of the vents (and believe it or not, the centre vent has just under 70 individual pieces in it ...)
Attached Images
File Type: jpg Outside vent.jpg (53.1 KB, 14 views)
File Type: jpg Centre vent.jpg (75.9 KB, 17 views)

I like the upgrades. Looks smart.

Not something I'll be likely to do, but look forward to seeing it at one of the meets/shows next year.

A quick update ....

Still looking for the CSM button - may be a dealer item so I'll dig out the part number from WIS - may need one of our facelift owners to visually confirm for me, but will let you know

Headlights sourced - no point fitting them til I find a bumper (no point in taking it off twice!!)....

I've been looking around from time to time, but the only version of the button I can find is just a CS button, not CSM:
