Question ///DVD Module from Piecha\\\

http://www.piecha.com/02b77898be08b6...8eb113f301.php

What I understood from google translate of the page, it also enables to add TV tuner and rear view camera. As far as I know there is no "video in" at the back of the R171 comand and I don't see any in the picture of the module. If it does what it says it is a nice module. I don't have comand by the way but I am interested in this DVD module, it can make me buy a comand

Gero please inform us about this module, you are the man

Not really in favor of these myself because they block the speed signal on CAN from reaching the audio gateway so the system thinks your standing still all the time and allows you to view video but if your in a location with no good GPS signal it will also stop your nav from working

Piecha writes that it don't affects the navi.....
(Durch die Bildfreischaltung wird das Navigationssystem nicht beeinflusst.)

Yeah i noticed that but to block the signal to the TV part of the system you have to sacrifice it all over the MOST.

I have seen modules like this in use before and its all the same, to be fair so long as you have a GPS signal its not a problem but if you lose the connection the nav will freeze

You're right.
As soon as there is no gps signal (tunnel or very bad reception), the navigation use other sensors : internal gyrometer to detect if the car turns right or left, and speed to detect how many meters the car has done.

Diclehen, Marcus Piecha got it in his own car. It´s working great, but to watch TV you need something more. (I´m too bad in electronical things and so I don´t try to explain it)

Now, you can watch a DVD and your Navi is working at the same time. In a couple of weeks he will offer one special modul for the roof and DVD

And: he is working for a special Performance exhaust for the SLK200, the Avantgarde forntspoiler gets a change - more agressive, last but not least: There is a special Anniversary program for the 55 to come. It will be tremendous, but I´m not allowed to tell details.

As I told you before you are the man in Germany. I am not interested in DVD Nav as I told you before. But it is nice to hear module works fine with it. I need to understand how I can connect rear view camera and TV tuner to the comand. Because I did not see any video in's in the module. when you shift to the rear gear is the camera activated? Do you press Video button to go between a camera,DVD and TV?

I understand it in that way: if you don´t watch a DVD and press the video button it switches to the rear camera which you have to install first.

By pressing 3 buttons on Comand you can set the DVD Player to play while in motion. FOR FREE! I cannot understand that Piecha would be up to a rip off like that one!

OK, if that is the case, I understand why Piecha developed a module.

So what is the consensus on DVD modules? Will they stop the NAV from working properly? Is there anyway to have the DVD module without affecting the Nav? What about the Mods4Cars DVD module?
