Default Eibach Springs on Shock Stocks? Bad Idea?

Would it be a bad idea to use the stock shocks (not sport package) with eibach springs? If so, what would be a good set of shocks to go with to maintain decent ride comfort? The car is likely to never see a track so road comfort is most important. Bilstein? KW?

Eibach springs are known to be good but I myself would go for the H&R for the sportier feeling.

It's fine with the stock shock absorbers but one thing to note is that they will get worn out quicker, the thing is to install bilestien shocks whilst your at it.

Good luck and show us some pics when you finally do it.

It isn't a bad idea to combine stock shocks with Eibach springs. Two SLK friends of mine have it and they are enthused. I have driven one 350 of that kind and the comfort is okay, comparable to stock. But the wear of the shocks is higher in this combination, as they aren't working on the optimal level any more. (Mohammed said it already)

But in extreme situations of driving you might perceive a lack of coordination between shocks and springs. And for those cases I recommend the Bilstein B16/ PSS9 or Carlsson RS suspension (quite the same). It is easily adjustable in damping and height.

Oh yes, of course: pics if the car is ready.

Thanks for the input guys. Pics of the stock car are in my Garage here and I'll definitely have new pics when the springs and wheels get here (end of next week or the week after.)

The only bad part about living in Hawaii, waiting so long for shipping!

It won't last you as long as OEM springs, but it'll still be a few years before the OEM shocks wear out, I can't recall how it feels w/o eibach (brabus) springs, I had it installed almost right away, when it wears out, that's when I'll get myself a full suspension setup. I've heard alot about Bilstein PSS9 lately, how are they compared to KW's?

I think in general both are okay.

In detail I can only write for Bilstein, as I have installed it in my SLK: The damping rate is easily adjustable in 9 levels at all four shocks for the SLK. But for that you must crawl under the car or better use a car elevator. This might help for a better understanding:

Carlsson delivers special springs for the front axle for the SLK, the rest is Bilstein.

The rebound and compression rate of the KW suspension can be adjusted independently. This looks like an advantage, but for the normal practice it is much too complex because of the large amount of possibilities. I think for this KW encloses a guideline.

I changed the set up of my Bilstein two times and now it's fine.

Thanks for the explanation, when my stock shocks goes soft, I'll be considering Bilstein.

How much would a setup of shocks and springs cost?

Depends on your budget, from $1500 (h&r) to over $2500 (kw's). blistein is somewhere in the middle.
