I agree. It's sometimes hard enough to get a known problem resolved rather than a service tech randomly checking other wiring or systems. With the module off, the chance it would ever be discovered is almost zero. I'll take those odds.

HAHA... like i said... if they start digging in my car... they are in for a surprise around every corner. Just the LCD has 10 A/V cables running to... well pretty much every direction (front, rear, right, left) from the center console. then the vario roof, soon to come the brake flasher, then the proximity module (still in the works) puddle lights, hmmm... am i missing anything... i'm sure i'll come up with something before my next service.

Good thing the tech that works on my car is a friend of mine. He just calls me and asks silly questions like... "oh did you know that you have 68 bulb out faults". So i'm sure i will be getting a call about the LCD, though they can't say jack since it is in NO way connected to any part under warrenty other then the battery

removing fault codes as easy as pulling the negative for about an hour and bobs you uncle all gone (apart from the engine ECU), don't know how well that would work for you noregret since your car is about as complex as the space shuttle pulling the batt might make something break and i don't wanna foot the bill for that.

How much roughly has it cost you for the mods so far just out of curiosity?

You may all think i'm joking here, but i spent under $900 for all the tech toys thus far. That includes LCD, Wiring/arials, rear camera, front camera(still not installed), puddle lights, vario roof module, and even the not yet finished brake flasher's parts, (not counting the proximity module, as it is not done yet)
Labor = Very cheap... just buy myself a beer after a completed mod

Well i have this ability to find things cheaper then most people. Almost a natural bargin hunter if you may... Applies to where i work as well. They give me a quote, i find it somewhere else for 1/2.

The guys at the local shops offered to work on my car for over $1k just for the LCD setup. I smiled, thanked them for the info, and did mine for half.

I guess i can offer any help to everyone in the NY/NJ area with this stuff. More then welcome to help install whatever you can imagine

You're very gifted NG4L! Technical abilities and bargain hunting, a very good combination.

For a young grasshopper, you're doing pretty well. The mods you have are awesome! Just hope you don't get bored too easily.

To clarify tho, you don't lost the double press on the console button to lower and raise all windows, correct? It has to be dis-connected when taken in for service?
There is nothing better than driving into the office behind a colleague's Boxster and just walking off flicking the remote to close the roof while they have to hang around in their car to close theirs.

The Boxster roof isn't even fully automatic as you have to manually close the catch at the end.

x2 for the roof module...

The guy down the street has an Audi TT 2.0T i think, and he also has to sit there waiting for the roof to close due to a latch.

I use my roof module at least 4-6 times a day... I love it!

ref: the rear camera,

in nj and ny they have something called 'parallel parking'. hee hee in florida we do not even have curbs! i was born and raised in nyc before leaving to join the army in 74. you should see how they test people for parking down here. they have 2 poles about 12 feet apart and you have to back into the spot. again, no curbs anywhere

I read somewhere that some Japanese car manufacturers have software installed in their cars for parallel parking. Just pull up parallel to the car in front of the space that you want to park, hands and feet
