Dan, i've been thinking about what you said with the spot checks in your area, however i may come up with a solution for your problem as well. Similar to the Air Scarf bypass u have already, i could install a bypass switch that simply "disables" the module and all things are back to normal. Switch can be installed in any location, as it will be very easy to wire it to any part of the car (simple 1 wire running)
This perhaps may be a good idea for the module release all together. However Delaers will not see a difference on any diagnostic, as the resistor will provide proper circuit connectivity if you leave the module on.
Thought to keep everyone at ease a simple switch/relay setup can be added to bypass the module and return things to normal. (for example a hidden switch in the trunk) then off to the dealer.
Easty, sadly the module does not have that many features. But it does have a "5th mode" i did not mention. It can blink consistantly... however this is also controled by the dip switch and can not be controled from another input, so its only one mode at a time.
etyu, interesting concept with the burst hazards. I actually bought a set of strobes that i never got around to use. My idea was to install the strobes into the rear lamps (either clear or red portion) which i was hoping to somehow connect to the roof control. Reason for this (in my case at least) is that i tend to drop top/put top up on the side of the road. I use the hazards but it would be a little safer with actual strobes. (yes i do know the law, however i would not be in motion, and they would not be in the front of the car)
Worse case with any of these mods if you get pulled over.... just say "Hey its a mercedes, it came with it as a (saftey) option" i don't know anything about it officer"

Sounds great norerget mate i really like that idea you could just flick the switch whenever you needed and no one would be any the wiser.
Just to answer etyu also you are correct the S Class does have an emergency brake flasher the only difference is MB have had to demonstrate that to people from the EU and it is noted down along with the rest of the info about the car so when people look the info up say when the car is being given an MOT they know that the car is supposed to do that, if they don't find that info like on the SLK without the kill switch installed then that would be a failure because the car has been modified from stock config, hopefully this clears it up a little.
Again about the new S its a proven fact that the flashing draws peoples attention to something so the flasher module noregret has made could be called as he states a safety device because thats what its down as with the S Class and i know around here no ordinary cop is going to argue with that so that sounds good also
I think it's highly unlikely for the police to notice and pull you to the side just for the flashing/bursting central brakelight alone.

ok, so the kill switch will be added to all modules this way this it can be used international. No problems at the dealer, no problems at a checkpoint stop. If you do get stopped simply flip the switch before the gets to your window and no way to prove anything. "No officer, i have not been drinking... but perhaps you have been, as you are the one seeing flashing lights on my breaks" ... HAHA!
I think for the switch, i will make it a plug-type connector so that if someone wants to install it in the trunk they can, or if they want to add a long single wire to run it to the interior, say by the seat, in the footwell, wherever... you would be able to do so as well. Switch will come with the setup, extra wire measured out to the max possible length should be an option as well.
Easy connectors are key here, and no cutting, tapping will need to be done. (i'm sure i can pull it off)

Yea, and then he can deal with DrZ directly.

That sounds perfect to me noregret many thanks my friend.
etyu, sorry i must not have been clear in my last post i mean it will be highly unlikely a cop will notice anythings different because these cars are so rare here you can bet they have never seen one before, its not that i meant would be the problem the problem would be taking the car to the dealer or for its MOT test to be done or of you get spot checked as you do quite frequently on the motorways here they would pick up on the change.
With noregret's new switch add-on the unit can be shut off when needed so no problems at all as he says just tell them they are seeing things and to leave you alone, its exactly the the vario-roof mod so long as you turn it off when needed nobody knows its there.
Hope this clears it up and again noregret amazing work my friend well done!

How does that sound?
NoRegret4Life - one word to describe, WOW! (I love that word, simple, but it says it all.)

x2. I think we have a final version of the product.
Just to clarify, when the kill switch is activated (flashing module deactivated), then the central LED brakelight would function as it was (OEM function)?

Good luck in finding a new place.

well i went around a few stores in the area looking for connectors/pins i could use for the setup... thus far no luck.
Does anyone know of a store/online store that would have connectors such as the ones here: This one is from a computer setup. The connector is actually used for a power button that connect to a motherboard on a PC (i have about 5 of these, which is enough for 5 kits)
The other one i was looking for is the (male) opposite. So it should have 2 pins on the end to fit into the female one above.
Surely i could get some copper wire that is strong enough to be used as 2 pins. But looking for a connector.
Any ideas where i could find various plug/pin like this? (not radioshack)

NR4L - You say those two pin connectors come off a computer? Aren't they the connectors from the front section of the computer case (reset switch, LEDs, etc)that attaches to the motherboard? How about checking with a computer repair shop. I'm sure they have TONS of old cases where you might find the 2 pin female connectors. The two pin males connectors are part of the motherboard. Good luck.

Right, the female connectors would be easier to find. I have checked in the local stores but the ones they have are part of New cases only. I may be able to drop into one other store that could have them laying around.
The male connectors are a bit harder to come by as there are not many applications that have them. I will keep checking around. I have a way of making one, but like i said i would rather have one thats factory made.
How about a local computer recycling place? You might be able to get the male connector from the circuit board to which they're attached to.
Or depending on the size of the wire, an automotive supply store might sell the 2-wire male and female connectors.
Maybe check out www.thomasdistributing.com. They sell all sorts of stuff for battery supply, (I usually buy NiMH batteries from them, very good service/customer relations dep't.) etc. and may have the twin-wire male and female connectors?

I don't own a Benz but im very intrested in the results of this project!
Welcome delphi, what kind of car do you drive?
The project is progressing along. I havn't had too much time to work on it lately. However i managed to come up with the wire plugs and some pins that will work out well. For at least the first few units for testing.
I am hoping to wire it all up within a few days and should have the first working kit then. Once this one is tested for a day or 2, then i will start working on the others. I don't want to send anything out without having had it run for a while on my own setup
Stay tuned... will post as soon as i have it together.
