Ok, tomorrow is the day we've been waiting for. Moduel should come in via UPS. I already have the resistors in the case that they are needed. So tomorrow is the big day for the 3rd Breaklight flasher!

I'm excited... haha

It's the simple things in life my friends... they are what make us happy (and in this case a little safer on the roads)

Yipeee! I can't wait. If it's successful, let us know how we can do this (pics and tutorial please) or if I can order the unit from you. Thank you much NG4L.

Flashing the brake lights would probably be illegal in Europe unless the manufacturer submitted the car that way for Type Approval, as they will do with the revised E Class.

Yup, I'll definitely be interested in one. NR4L - you got to come up with a catchy marketing name. May I suggest - Komfort Variodach strobing third brake light, with fade.

Would it not just make people think your only resting on the pedal and not really braking? I don't even look at brake light personally but I guess some do.

How about "Brakelight Flashing Module by NR4L" (r). or Blinkendes Brakelight Modul durch NR4L in German.

Default Yet another module works!

Ok my friends. I know you all have been waiting for this.

Without further delay, i confirm 3rd Brake light flasher module 100% opperational! (with a few tweeks)

There are several modes.
Mode 1: Burst Mode > Fast pulsing 3 flashes then constant on
Mode 2: Burst Mode > Fast pulsing 3 flashes then 6 sec steady on then repeat

Video clip of Mode 2 > Burst mode
http://rapidshare.de/files/28970466/...Flash.AVI.html

Mode 3: Flash Mode > Fast 3 flashes then constant on
Mode 4: Flash Mode > Fast 3 flashes then 6 sec steady on then repeat

Video clip of Mode 4 > Flash mode
http://rapidshare.de/files/28970831/Standard_Flash.AVI.html

Modes can be switched via small dip switches on the module and easy to work with.

There are a few tweeks that i need to work out. Resistors will be needed, however the min amount of resistance i still don't have. I used the resistor i had from my side marker lights from the old car just for the test.

Also need to work out where to place the resistor(it gets hot), an easy connect method without cutting wires... and a price for all this joy.

However the first few kits i think i will just charge parts and put them together, maybe setup a donation fund

This will be the 1st "Kleyman Module" and hopeing it will be usable on any Mercedes Benz 3rd break light LED or Standard.

Installation time on R171 SLK will be about 20min-30min. (actual time...I just did mine in that time, and i had wires hanging everywhere. so a clean final version will be less) Skill level = well if you can change a light bulb, you can install this module And if you can't... i can do it for you in the NY/NJ Area

So while i am working out the kinks, Who's on the waiting list???
Please PM me if you are interested!
Will ship US & International

I think there may be an issue with the 2 Rapidshare Links above. If anyone is having a problem downloading the files, please let me know.

If I'm not mistaken, photobucket.com allows you to share the video. I can't download the video from work at the moment. I'll try later tonight.

I'm not sure if photobucket.com is an easier way or not. Thanks Noregret4life.

The above site works well in sharing the video. My personal preference is for the burst mode (anyway, there's a toggle switch to switch the mode from burst to flash). The flash mode looks like you're just pumping your brakes. Thanks again NG4L.

Glad you like the mod. I like the burst mode as well. It really does look much better in person. The camera can't adjust fast enough to the burst flashes. They are crisp in person.

The standard flash mode is actually there for regular 3rd break bulbs, NOT LED- since they won't be able to handle the quick burst responce like LEDs can.

Either way, you can pick wich modes you like via 4 dip switches on the back of the module. The module itself is actually very small and can fit in your palm, perhaps even with a closed hand around it. So it can be mounted just about anywhere.

OK i would just like to add something to this because its not clear.

While technically we are not allowed it so long as you remember to disconnect it before going to the dealer or having the car MOT'd then i doubt anybody will notice if you are unlucky enough to get spot checked then you could just say that something must be faulty and you will have a tech look at it asap that should be alright.

I really doubt a cop in the street is going to know the difference between the standard SLK and the NG4L SLK brake light set-up.

Correct me if I am wrong, I thought the newer S class had the feature of the flashing brakelight, but only during a "panic" brake scenario.
