You're still the King of Mods.
As an analogy, you can tell a good surgeon when he says, "Surgery not indicated."

"I will post back once i get a reply from them and Easty do you mean sometimes you turn the key into POS 3 and nothing happens or does nothing happen when you insert the key?" Yes it's like I don't turn it for long enough and it clicks. Them I turn it again and nothing then I have to completely unplug the key and re insert it prior to pos 3 working.

I've had this happen once before. i just clicked the key far enough, and let it go, car didn't start. went back to pos 0 and restarted all ok. I wouldn't too much attention to it unless you have you hold the key in pos3 for more then a sec. at most.

Thanks Etyu for the compliment... i'm sure there is more to come in mods

Easty as noregret says nothing to worry about there are loads of things that can place the car in start inhibit mode after inserting the key its normally just that a parameter is out of limits or a computer not initialised the click is just the relays activating they are only armed once every ignition cycle to if the engine does not start its normal to have to remove the key it generates a new DAS3 code and resets the system so thats expected behaviour.

Its a common problem on W163 ML's but they have a "Start Error" message that appears we don't have that i don't know why, the only thing i can suggest is use the start method i posted before that is the official Merc recommended start procedure and is designed to give the components time to power on and sync up obviously if you have to turn the key and hold it for as noregret says more than a second to start her up or the problem becomes more frequent then take it to the dealer as the EIS could be on its way out and it really ain't something you want to fail the the parking lot that's for sure.

Cheers
Dan

Well at least if feels great knowing the only way to actually boost our cars is to tow it... and we have an alarm for that as well

No screwdriver into lock for us... no crack open the steeringwheel cover to hot-wire... and shoot,

if someone manages to hotwire my car... PLEASE LEAVE A TUTORIAL BEHIND... with pictures so that the rest of us can install a start button... HAHA

Well with two GPS trackers installed, I'd probably have the address of the local prison the theif lives to get the hotwire info. It does seem a difficult car to steal. Be interesting to see the stats.
