Question contact spring part number

I visited dealer to buy contact spring(A004 545 00 26) but part guy said this part has been replace with new part number(A000 545 35 05). I ordered and got the new part. That part is totally different what Driller bought. It has very small metal pieces connected white wire both ends. Metal piece shape looks like L, so it cannot be fitted into fuse holder.
I visited today to get correct one, but he ketp saying that part has been discontinued and replaced with new one. So, if I want contact spring, then I have to change entire fuse block with new one compatible with new contact spring.
Is it true? I really need contact spring Driller posted......

That fuse holder would not fit in my fuse block. I ended up using the Add-A-Circuit and it works perfectly! I recommend it!

if it's inexpensive it should just come with the Add-A-Circuit.

Nothing has been discontinued or replaced the dealer does not know what he is on about.

You need the right fuse holder to fit on the block and then the correct contact spring to fit inside the fuse holder.

Going to compare the different holders to my car later on and see what one is correct the EPC was not helping.

Driller, I've modified the fuseholder (thanks to DansSLK for the supply) this afternoon and it will fit the odd shape and make your install "stealthy".

I used a motor tool at 9000 rpm with different router bits. Initially I thought I need to cut a slot but one doesn't need to. It turns out you have to route out a square tab on a different corner than the pix of the orange fuseholder that I showed earlier.

Here's the tools you may need:

close-up of OEM fuseholder box:

How I set up the fuseholder, contact spring with the Gauge 16 wire and bullet connectors from Radio Shack. This allows for easy connection/disconnection.

Hope this helps those who only have slot #42 free/open to add a fuseholder box.

Driller, I also sent you a PM.

So what was the final verdict for fuse holder and spring/wire holder/connector? Is the post I saw with Canadian numbers (#24 in this thread) the right set to order? Is that the right one for US also if you grind out that stub as referenced earlier?

Webslinger, if you are unable to get the US MB parts department to order the fuseholder bit and contact spring, send me a PM.

Yep, use the part nos. as illustated in post #24.

I had the local Mercedes Benz try but their system at the parts dep't couldn't find it, so i couldn't order it (I don't know if it's just a US thing or just a regional peculiarity) and IIRC, zxxn could get the fuseholder box but couldn't get the contact spring.

At any rate, if you're unable to get the needed parts, send me a PM.

I've installed two roof modules and went with the simple red power wire tap with zero issues. The add a fuse option is probably the preferred method but appears to be cumbersome. Remember the "KISS" (keep it simple stupid) principle.

Using the fuseholder method is no more cumbersome that removing the panels, etc. to do the roof module install. It merely avoids the risk of crimping the wrong wire. Whichever method that one is comfortable with would be acceptable.
