Default Cosmetic/Performance Wish List

Since there seems to be members capable of fabricating mods for the SLK, I figured I'd start a wish list of sorts. Here's two things I'd like to see produced for the SLK. I'd like both a front lip spoiler and rear diffuser made out of Carbon Fiber. I realize it will be purely cosmetic and may have no real performance benefit. Who cares? I think they look great. So, if someone can produce these, at a decent price, I'll be the first to purchase them!

What else would you guys like to see available for the SLK? Post pics if you have a sample.

My Wish list:
-CF front lip spoiler like this one from a C55
-CF rear diffuser like the CL65

me 2 dsb. if i could get front splitter liek that in CF i would be more than game.
i enquired about that black series bumper Gero, but they don't provide the OEM mesh, and i don't like the metal stuff, cheapens the look i think.
my wish list would be CF splitter, and AMG skirts with rear bulge made in CF.

I'd like to see more wheels available for the SLK in 18" & 19". Although there are variations available now, still room for something new, classy, and appropriate for the SLK.

Have you look at custom forged wheels, iForged, DPE's, DCR's, Forgeline, HRE's, all those are custom made to fit, yes it takes a longer time to make and cost more but they are strong, light, durable, and quality wheels. Simply can't not be beat by cheaper cast alumium wheels that are cheaper but bend easily, not as durable, heavy, doesn't look as good.

I agree with dsb, more carbon fiber for the SLK. I'm tempted to get rid of my wood trim for carbon fiber ones but there isn't enough to warrant interest and the little parts we do get is way over priced. I know several members from the BMW forums went to Indonesian (for vacation) and brought back some custom made CF interior parts for their BMW at 1/3 of the cost. Looks like great quality products, they were all satisfied, I know we have one member from Indonesian (lontong) maybe if he has time and is willing to assist, I know Indonesians are mod crazy like us, so it might be doable.

Ynot, I think Carbon fiber would look stunning and compliments the sportyness the Wheels,Springs and Sport Pacakge kit acheives.

Here's a PM and response from Neal at Eurotec:

Neal's response
Hi Dan,

We still may do it. I can tell you we did not start anything yet. Its just something we are considering at this point. If we do make it, they take about 3 months.

Thanks
Neal

I sent him another email asking what the cost would be. I'll keep you all posted. Would you be interested more in a rear spoiler or front lip spoiler? I personally think the CF bumper they made was a questionable decision. I think there's more buyers for the diffuser or lip spoiler than a whole CF bumper.

Yeah, what's with that?! How can 8-10 tiny pieces cost over $1K? I guess our car's design limits the use of CF trim. I was considering just getting the CF trim that surrounds the speedo/rpm gauges. I figure that would be a nice little touch. Aside from that, I want the CF on the exterior.

The C55 lip spoiler by Eurotec looks quite good and it's at a reasonable price. I think they sell for $649 but had a group price for considerably less. I have my fingers crossed.

Again, if they were to do it, would you guys like a:
-CF rear diffuser
or
-CF front lip spoiler?

DSB, I sent him an email last summer regarding the same CF lip and he told me they were currently busy with the works on the C-class and CLK lip spoilers. Judging on the works of their CF, it looks like top class material and structure.

Neal's service is excellent, last year I purchased Green Filters from him.

Do you really want to know whats my Cosmetic/Performance wish list?

Well Okay here it goes:

Wheels:BBS LM 19 or 18" Staggered setup with either PS2's or Good Year tires
Kleemann Front Lip Spoiler
Evosport Pullies
H&R Springs
Kleemann Camshafts
Kleemann Headers
Brabus 6.1S with the above modifications coupled with my SuperSprint X pipe, Kleemann Sport 3" 200 cell Primary Catalytics and Green filters =

But unfortunatley its too costly so I may do the Kleemann Front lip but I sometimes thing it looks bad with stock 18" wheels, I do want to get my hands on the evosport pullies.

DSB,

regarding the cost I dont think it would be far off the C55 and CLK55's pricing.

I wish there was an active member that can read Indonesian, there has to be a website out there that sells custom CF for the SLK, for $1K, you can get CF for both interior and exterior, well at least the bimmer folks.

$649 is a fair price for a CF lip, I think CF bumper is a bad idea b/c it'll cost an arm and a leg to get one.

CF front lip spoiler gets my vote.

Default Response from Neal

Neal's response
Hi Dan,

If we did do a front lip. I'd say it would be close to our other lip prices $649 each. Although it may come out a tiny bit higher because we normally do the cars with more demand/more popular. Even though there would be quite a few people interested in the SLK55 lip, its much less then the others we do it for. Judging by that thread, maybe only 5 or less were interested. But I am sure if we made a thread on a MBworld or a few others we may gain more interest.

I will think it over again and see if I can get something done for the front lip.

The rear diffuser is a different story. If we did something like that, it will not be anything crazy for air to flow threw or anything of that nature. It would be the plastic piece between the exhaust on the rear bumper in CF. But we have more luck doing the front lip.

Reason we did the black series bumper was because we had one customer that wanted it so bad and was not able to get it from Germany. So to say the least, he paid whatever it cost to get it done. He was very happy with the end result, even though he could have bought a 2nd cheap car for what he paid.

Thanks
Neal

My response
Neal,

Thanks for the timely response. I know there's not alot of SLK55 out there but keep in mind one thing. There's plenty of SLK280 & SLK350's that have the AMG package. I believe the front bumpers are identical with exception of the 'side vents' near the wheel. So, the CF front lip would gain much more interest.

I hope you don't mind that I post your PM online. I want to gauge interest and that might do the trick.

I'll keep you posted on any developments.

Dan

Yeah, I also purchased from him last year. His service was great. I do hope they make the lip spoiler. The C55 unit looks great and there's a lot of happy customers. BTW, you're right about the cost... roughly $649.

CF lip spoiler makes more sense than the Kleeman/Carlsson spoilers because:
-half the price
-no prep
-no painting required
-looks good with any exterior color
-easy to mount/dismount

I agree... lip spoiler first. Besides, there would be more people with interest (ie SLK280/SLK350 with AMG package AND SLK55).

$649 is reasonable and there could be an introductory group buy.

I agree with your comment about the bumper. I guess there was a valid reason for the creation. Neal pointed that out.

i enquired about the bumper but decided against it.
would love a CF lip, but would need the AMG bumper first. maybe a CF AMG spoiler would also be good.
