| Here are a few pics of the wiring already in place. The LCD harness is in the middle of the dash pic, then all the RCA cables for are all tucked inbehind. Its a really tight fit back there. and i wish i had better access to it. I am thinking of removing the Command. As i am afraid of blocking its fan in the back. Can someone post up the steps to do so. I know it's not an easy process, however i think i might need to do this regardless Last edited by noregret4life; 07-11-2006 at 02:01 AM. |

The project is progressing. Current situation : the diversity antennas for the TV tuner arrived. Now i am trying to figure out where i can put them to get the best reception, and the least exposure. Also the 3.5mm (headphone jacks) on the antennas are a bit long to fit into the crammed space. So i ordered 90 deg. angled extenders which will do the trick. Whats left to do: I need to tap into an ACC line Connect to Constant (+) Connect to reverse light in the trunk Attach the cameras (picking up the rear plate cam today) Any easy suggestions other then sig lighter for an ACC line?

| Well while your tapping in your vario mod power you can tap that into the same place. I used the thin red wire in that runs by the canbus you tap the Vario mod into for both my vario mod and my radar. it's constant feed.

| You can also utilize the ATO add-a-circuit (Pep Boys) to tap into the fuse box at the left side of dashboard for your constant (if all the slots in the fuse box have been taken). The MB technician I talked to before (while trying to obtain info on tapping the fuse box for the Varioroof module) recommended to check the fuse box for power with the keys off the ignition, and then with key in position 1, to find out which one is constant, and which one is live only with key in position 1 or 2 . You may want to check the other fuse box in the engine compartment. Find the circuit that feeds to the cigarette lighter. How about the circular light switch, could you tap into the AUTO part of the light switch so that the accessory is on only with key in ignition 1?

| I actually have an empty spot (test to be constant) in my fuse block inside the car. Going to take a trip to Pepboys to find that right angle Add a fuse and take it from the main fuse box under the hood for the ACC. Thanks! Also, i picked up my Black metal rear plate camera. WOW... very impressive. Heavy duty metal, camera is sealed in a cylinder and rotates up/down to get best angle. The connector is tiny and comes with a rubber sealer, so i am planning to run it similar to the RADAR install, except i am thinking of drilling through the rear plate lamps instead of the opener, But we'll see. I saw the camera working in a display at the store, and was very impressed with the picture quality. I will post pictures of it and the next steps soon. Damn rain here is killing me. | noregret4life> Sorry i can't really help you with any advise, but i do really like what you're doing here and can't wait to see the end product (that's assuming that you'll draw a line and stop at some point!) |

Last night i installed the Vario Roof Module. Total time: 45min. The fuse holder gave me some trouble as it did not fit into the empty slot i had in the fusebox in the sidepannel. However after i clipped a couple of pieces of plastic off, it attached ok. No searching for the "red wire" made this an even easier task! I also installed the ATO add-a-circuit for the ACC line and also tapped the constant. Almost all the wireing is done. Only thing left is the Diversity antennas... The ones i ordered do not work very well though. So i may exchange them for new ones. Next up is the rear cam plate install and the wiring for the Antennas. Front nightvision camera is ordered... headlight missles, hovercraft kit, and ejection seats are on backorder, darn! going to have to wait

| What type of camera are you using for nightvision? will it also double as parking aid? i have night vision (infrared) in my SEC with the carpc (8 inch touchscreen in dash, 7 inch in sunvisor) but i couldn't find any fish eye lenses to use it as parking aid, nor could i use it for driving due to the low mount and the glare....i love your install so far though. I suggest going all out and installing carPC though, defintely worth it....and the V1 via USB is awesome. |
