I am getting the front lip for sure, but the rear diffusor needs getting used to especially for me since I just came back from admiring my SLK's rear.

i was expecting to see a twin-turbo install...

I might be wrong here but i think its just cosmetic mimicking the F430's diffuser.

Do you remember a thread we had a while back when there where some photoshopped pics produced by easty

I agree with the diffuser mate i think it's because of the shape of the bumper.

I sure do like the front lip however

Thumbs up on the front lip. I wish I could get it but my driveway is too steep.

Interesting rear diffuser. I'd love to see someone produce a rear diffuser that is one whole piece replacing the black plastic that surrounds the exhaust. I don't like the look of two different plastics mounted together. Even cooler would be to make it out of CF. I'd buy it.

PS. Congrats on being the first with a rear diffuser. You always got to give it up for people who pave the way.

It was designed to extract air from underneath the car at speeds. Stops air from buffeting in rear bumper area.

i like the idea of making it easily removable

Hi James,

great work in developing these mods.

But I personally don't like them. Simply the AMG body kit plus eventually the spoiler, that's all.

Somebody else has had a similar idea:

It supposes to create smooth transition for the air when it gets from under the car to the back of the car (where the pressure is a little higher). This reduces the drag force and also increases the down force allowing the car to go faster and handle better. Of course the higher the speed the higher difference in pressure and it's only at high speeds that having a diffuser make any difference.
While these days the diffuser is a must for the high end sport cars (SLR, F430, LP640, etc.) and a lot of research is done for each individual model (although nothing close to what the F1 teams are doing) I think this diffuser for the SLK might help a little (if you remove the 155mph speed limiter) but definitely the most important role is a cosmetic one.

I kinda like the VATH rear diffuser. I do think it could be improved a bit more.

I like the overall design but here's some suggestions:
-create one that will work with the stock exhaust.
-eliminate the rivets.
-it seems like it is screwed to stock panel thus it sticks out. fix it so it's even.

I'd buy it then for sure.

Hi dsb,

the owner of this 55AMG told me that the diffusor and the exhaust was individually produced for himself.
The distance between the panel and the diffusor is made due to thermal reasons. So the rivets keep this cooling split. The rear mufflers are behind the bumber.
