| http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/STAINLESS-STEE...QQcmdZViewItem what does everyone think? very cheap compared to what carlsson and brabus aer asking. I like the chrome bars, think are a big improvement over the plastic standard ones, but i won't pay stupid money for them. |

Per B55, installation is complex and time consuming.

| Roll bars are beyond stupid to install or remove for that matter no so much because you need to be skilled but because there are so many screws holding the bloody things to the car. Also while they do look much better than the stock bars it is worth remembering here that they do actually perform a function and i feel safer knowing that should the worst happen the roll bars have been tested to destruction by MB / Brabus/ Carlsson whoever because they have a reputation riding on stuff like this and there are so many regulatory requirements on them also and if they could not stand the weight they wont be installed. With parts like this i always feel its like taking a chance they could do the job just fine but on the other hand they might not and is it a risk your prepared to take same with suspension and brakes the critical things its always better to go brand name because they are going to have been tested much better than some setup you have never heard of.

| I'm with Dan on this one, roll bars are not something you want to go cheap on, if you want to get some sticker carbon fiber trim and put it in your interior, or a $15 antenna, that's fine but roll bars serves a function, the most important function and that is safety, the worst case scenario, if your car flips, you don't want to have those in your SLK. Go with name brand, they have a reputation to keep and test their products throughly before releasing it to the public.

| I agree with Ynot, The rollbaras are important and you dont want to go through an accident or a roll over with fake ones that break or crack, So I would go for well built strong rollbars from a well known brand. I think chrome looks bad on the SLK, I like the ones that come from Mercedes on my car.

| very true points and all taken onboard...so im def not buying these now. i also really like the Brabus ones, but sound incredibly hard to fit. my dealer sells alot of Brabus stuff and fits it so i might look into this a bit further through them. Thanks for the comments and info anyway guys and of course gal. |

| if you haven't considered this options - here's what I'm planning. While I'm not a big fan of the "rubber coated" stock bars - I think that a nice leather wrapping would look good. Since I don't plan to ever use the Factory plexi-glass air screen - I'm not worried about changing the diameter of the roll bar. Now I just need to find a shop to do that and to modify my seats to have the "different color center section" - which it pains me that it's only offered on the AMG55... |

| Here are what mine look like. The Brabus tech that installed mine said that roll bars are the hardest thing he ever installs. They do look sweet though. |

| yeh they really do look the ticket B55. my dealer sells and fits 90% of the Brabus range, so will look into this, as i am also now considering brabus front skirts and rear apron. its either the brbaus kit or the amg styling package. |
