| Hi all! I just bought a 99 SLK230, and while playing around and testing features, I discovered that I get ZERO AM reception and pretty poor FM reception (fair amount of FM static, etc) The car was shipped to me, and the antenna was unscrewed by the transport company. I put it back on, finger tight... Could the poor reception be due to the antenna not being tight enough? If I do need to replace the antenna, I assume I may need to replace the entire assembly, cable and all, since their could be a pinch or short in the cable, etc. Does anyone know of an online source for the entire antenna assembly, cable and all? Any ideas also on a non-OEM solution possible, since I will be replacing the stock sound system completely once I figure out this AM reception issue. -David |

| Guess it's the cell phone antenna you screwed back ![]() Radio antenna is located in your back bumper. I would guess you have a problem with the signal amplifier. That is located in the left corner of your trunk. If you remove the first aid kit you can see the amp in the hole behind it.

| Thanks for the tip. The car is being serviced for something else, but once I get it back, any idea on an aftermarket or online source for the antenna assembly, including the amp and cables? |
