Default Exhaust Tip Modification

I don't really plan on upgrading my complete exhaust system right now, but I'm curious if anyone knows a supplier or a method of modifying the exhaust tip on my 2002 SLK230 to look like a dual pipe exhaust like the picture below.

I found a website (myroadster.net) which sells a chrome exhaust tip (single), but I cannot locate a double exhaust tip addition. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Mike

You can checkout brabus, remus, supersprint and eisenmann. You can achieve that look with just a muffler.

Thanks.. Anything I should be concerned about with regards to performance by replacing the muffler? I want to make sure I don't negatively affect anything. I appreciate the comments because I'm not too mechanically inclined when it comes to things like this, although I'm trying to learn!

You wont affect anything, it will sound miles better and add performance to your car slightly.

Mike,

I was in the same boat as you, what i ended up doing was buying 2 upgraded M3 Euro tip from this website http://www.eurosportdesign.com/ps-25...aust-tips.aspx

I received them last month, and the quality is outstanding. I haven't yet had a chance to install them. I really did not want to go the route of installing any type of muffle(magnaflow, flowmaster, remus etc...) because
1) I did not want to spend a heap of money on a mod which really wont add any hp (more for visual appeal than anything else)
2) I didn't want anything which would sound like a honda w/ a fart can
3) $$ money again, I didn't want to spend $900+ on an eisenman

So what I plan to do is have these welded to the factory exhaust... At least that way, I know it's not going to be crazy loud or obnoxious.

Good luck to you,
Dan

Thanks Dan, those look good. Have you measured the fitment to ensure they will fit side by side and not look out of place?

I'm assuming this is something I'll need a muffler shop to weld for me?

Thanks!

Also, has anyone noticed the lack of a "thanks" button? I tried to thank you, Dan, but unable to. Just me (my browser) or is it disabled?

The thanks button has been missing for a day or two. Don't know if we will be getting it back or not. I liked that feature.

Mike
The new code for the forum blocked this feature, Bill T is working on a way to get that feature back in a few days hopefully.

Hey Dan,

Yeah, I've been a police officer for about 13 years now. Started out my career in the Air Force, now I work for a city with about 65,000 population in north Texas.

A Brabus exhaust will not fit the slk without cutting the bumper, Also Brabus r170 parts rare as rocking horse poo, So would be very lucky to find one, There are a few kicking round germany for the 320, But no 230, Havnt seen one for sale for over a year.

The remus is a good exhaust, They made the Brabus exhausts.

If you buy a quality exhaust, Like Brabus or remus, There is nothing Honda about them, The sound is fantastic, I have sound clips of both a 320 and 230 with Brabus exhaust if you want me to mail you them slkcop.

But not a cheap option, But the best option IMO

Thanks, PAPA, but right now (due to $$ restrictions) I'd rather find some method of giving the exhaust the 'dual pipe' look without actually having to purchase a $700+ exhaust system.

If not possible, I might have to just save the money and actually do the upgrade.

I was a State Probation officer for about 1.5 years. Got burnt out rather quickly and jumped ship into the dealership industry as a Service Advisor. The pay is 10x better and I don't deal with scumbags on a daily basis or have to risk my life in the areas i was working.
Life is much better right now, . DOn't get me wrong though, Law Enforcement was my passion, however a higher power decided it wasn't the way for me to go.

Stay safe out there .

Dan

Thanks for the comments, Dan.

10x better pay? I'd jump ship, too. Although everyone says you dearly miss law enforcement when you get out.

That is very true!!! It doesn't hit you until the day you get pulled over and the officer doesn't care who or what you once were! LOL

reharding your exhaust issue, i would highly recommend an aftermarket muffler exhaust system.
If not, i would not even bother getting a tip just, as these tend to be cheap and rust, or else look fake in time.
putting a muffler on the acr will add slight performance gains, and the correct ones will not add much to the deicble levels, making it still sound nice.
i would recommend supersprint or piecha. these exhuast are excellent qualiy and fit, and any garage/mechanic can fit them within an hour or two.
i think Magnex and Sebring also do a good backbox for the R170 SLk.
