Question Wheel Sizing Help...

Hi all, since I’m not knowledgeable about wheel sizing I figured I’d set this question out to those who are more proficient than myself.

I have a 2002 SLK230Kompressor and I’m curious if the stock MB wheels/tires from a 2006 SLK350 will fit my vehicle without any modifications to my car? I know the bolt pattern is the same (5x112), but I was told I needed to check offsets and some other measurements.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Mike

I think it will fit without any modifications because I highly doubt your brake calipers and setup is larger than the one on the SLK R171's.

The offset on r170 is 35mm, and you can run upto 8.5x18 f and 9.5x18 r with no rolling of arch, Any wider rear may need arch mods, Wider front will tramline BAD! If the offset is out you may be able to fix it with spacers

Hope that helps.

Whats the spec on the wheels you want ?

Well, I just learned that the offset for the R170 is 35-38mm for front and rear. The offset for the R171 stock wheels is 36mm for the front and 30mm for the rear, so I guess my plan of that upgrade will be in vain.

Thanks to all for trying to help out with this!

Mike

I know for sure that the AMG 18-inch 16 spoke wheels (front and rear) from the R171 were fitted on a R170 without any problems (simple replacement, no spacers, etc). It was the OEM one from V8SLK (R171 SLK 55) unto Oscar's R170 (forgot his username).

For the SLK 350 the wheel specs are: 7.5Jx17 (front) and 8.5Jx17 (rear).

I'm in a similar situation (and similar occupation LOL)...I have a set of new 18" Miro Colleczioni black rims (ALT MIRO DESIGN) with Mercedes caps available on ebay asking $699us for the set of 4...the front 18X8.5"/rear 18X9.5" fit with what PAPA notes as potential...and the bolt pattern 5X112 is good...the challenge I'm concerned with is the offset in the front is 32mm (rear is 35mm so all good there)...I'm also unaware if this will be an issue on my r170 (2000 slk230 sport)...could someone offer an experienced opinion if this is okay and a workable setup?
Thanks kindly, Charlie
