| I'm looking to install a bluetooth car kit into my SLK320, and I was wondering if I could use the microphone installed into the light console? I'm planning on connecting to an Alpine KCE-300BT. Cheers, Sean. |

| Use the microphone supplied with your Bluetooth kit. Sound quality will be important. I installed a aftermarket Bluetooth kit a year ago. I mounted the microphone in the overhead light console, but moved it outside the console, to the right of the mirror for better sound.

| I am looking to get a bluetooth kit myself, but don't know much about it yet. Which kind did you get? Where and how did you instal it? Can you use it with the top down? Let me know. Thanks |

| alroumi, How is the microphone with the top down? Does noise cancellation work? Or does the person you talk to have a hard time hearing you? I don't think I have used the phone with the top down and at speed. |

| I have a 2002 SLK which had a crappy sound system so I swapped out the head unit some time ago. I intend to upgrade the head unit to one with a built-in bluetooth interface. However, those head units are still immature so I'll be waiting at least another year for a decent one. So in the interim I purchased this bluetooth speakerphone. It works great and matches the black and silver interior of my SLK. Of course it does not attenuate the stereo automatically but I can live with that for now... |

| I've used the OEM Bluetooth with the roof retracted, main windows up and at medium speed (50-60mph). The other party can hear adequately but with a lot of background and wind noise (almost sounds like static to the other party). At lower speeds (less than 30mph), the static-type interference from wind noise is much less.

The technician did say that the mic array wasn't needed, just the core and completer kit was needed to do the Bluetooth install (model year 2008). I am not sure how accurate this is either.

| Yeah, my car didn't come with the extra mics and when I asked about it, they ordered them and put them in. Don't know if they weren't there by an oversight or whether they aren't supposed to be used anymore. I have them in any case Since I don't talk to myself (much), I don't know how good we sound to others when driving. I know the person talking through the sound system sounds good. |
