Default EasyRoofSLK

I started with the SimpleRoofSLK mod which is the One Touch top operation. But this is waaaay better. It's like the Bipes, but a fraction of the cost.

My car already draws attention here given the color, but I tell ya what, its a show stopper snailing along in a stau (traffic jam) and wanting not to get my bald head burned, I just put the top up while slowly moving along at about 20 kph (its set for 60 kph). Even my wife, driving along with me, said "It IS pretty cool." (with a big grin of course).

Also, the remote operation is cool. We were out looking at houses today and while standing in the front yard with our potential landlord I operated the top from accross the yard and she (older German woman) was visually taken back. I grinned like a proud parent...

Kevin, do you have a link to the One Touch site? Is it available in the US?

Steve, yes, it is available in the US. Here's the link:

http://www.simpleroof.com/

Then click on the British Flag to the left for English. Dirk is a great guy!

Doug...did you order yours?

Yea, I emailed Dirk twice and have not heard back. His first email(one you forwarded) never arrived. Last I heard was 33.00usd plus shipping, he gave link but it was only email, no paypal address. If you speak to him get the full amount and a Paypal site. Thanks for asking.

I talked to him a couple of days ago. He's been sick. Doctor gave him a note to the end of the week. If you emailed him and it didn't get sent back to you undeliverable, he'll respond.

Now that I think about it, that email address IS his paypal account. I'll double check.

Looks like a nice module for the R170. Kevin, would you mind posting step by step pics and tutorial for this module when you get the chance?

Kev, if the email address is paypay account, how do you send money to a email account? My computer literacy is in question, these things still rattle my pea brain. Dirk did give his mail address, if I get total amount, I can mail a check. Snail Mail.

If you have a PayPal account, you just put in the account of the person you want to send money to.

Dirk's account is: Siegmund@beckmann-gmbh.de, them you put in the amount you want to give him and from what type account you're paying from, i.e. your credit card or bank account.

Nah, it really wasn't that bad. It took me all of 2 hours + 2 Krystal Weizens. I would have been done 15 minutes sooner, but forgot to swap one of the ignition wires and had to go back into the fuse box. It was easier than I thought it'd be.

Dirk did a very nice job of inserting pictures in the installation manual.

eddy, I'll see if I can get the manual in pdf so you can see the step by step.

Not really when you consider what it does. There are 2 wires you actually cut and that is to deactivate the mod if you need to. The other what, 8 wires or so are piggybacked onto other wires.

As I said, it actually was pretty easy to install.

The roof mods are awesome. You will get the crazy jaw dropping look alot, especially when you (my favorite) have the keys in our pocket and you put it down as you walk to it, or even have your back turned to the car as you carry on a conversation before you leave!

The in operation while going slow is great also, mine is set to 29, but i rarely do it above 15.

Yeah, my fear is getting on some unfamiliar road and running into some rough patches. Don't need to get anything outta wack!
