That mods not for me. Cutting into a wire harness sends chills to my bones. I'd prefer plug and play like Lenny's.

But if you have to abandon the mod, you have one sorry wire harness.

look at the pics could not be easier, its two wires , there is a binding the covers the wires that you roll back, so if you took the mod off, and rejoin the wire roll the binding back done no one will ever know.

PAPA, Great job with the install!
As i do not have access to an R170, i was wondering if you could do a little favor... Can you go into your access panel and unplug the 3rd brake light hanress from your module. Meaning disconnect everything, the module & brake light, from the car harness and see if you get a bulb out warning.

I am just curious if your module provides enough resistance to not trigger the bulb out, or if the R170 does not monitor the 3rd brake light at all.

Thanks

From looking at the wires, this can be made plug-and-play by Lenny by attaching the appropriate connectors. Are the exterior lamps (including the 3rd brake light) on the R170 monitored?

The brake lamps at the corners are. The 3rd light is LEDs and too little current to be monitored.

Well in the case of R170s you are all lucky. Because in the R171 it is monitored along with every other exterior bulb.

Thanks for the info BipesD

I think the only thing I would add would be a micro switch for by-pass when it comes time for inspection. I'm unaware if this will be an issue in Germany. So I'd just install the by-pass to be safe.

Since LENNY hasn't posted a price or more modules yet...hint, hint.
