| Spoke to Barrier Mercedes (the Bellevue, WA dealership) today about the cost of doing an upgrade to the newest Sirius antenna on my 2005 SLK (it has the old ugly version, a big black wart in the middle of the trunk lid). They said they would do the whole job, including paint, for $350. They also said most dealerships would charge about the same. Just thought I would post this data for anyone who might be considering this upgrade. From the sound of it, it is quite simple. |

| The dealer in Cleveland Oh, quoted me around $128 for the antenna (factory painted). In the past they also gave me a 20% discount on a couple other things. You will also need a splitter which I found for $12 on eBay. I don't know how much it would cost from the dealer. Unbolt the old antenna, remove the plastic housing around the trunk, unplug the old cables, plug in the new ones. I would say a 30 minute job. I haven't actually done it yet since I'm happy with the way mine looks after I painted it. Before: ![]() After: |

| I agree with Tummy, I can't imagine it being a difficult job (I could be wrong). The hole is already drilled, take out the old and put in the new. |

| I believe changing the "wart" to the newer sleek-looking one will end the troubles with the Hydra
