Default SLK 55 suspension specs - help

Right Oh wise ones. I previously hired an SLK 55 which I assume to be a late one (2006 /7 ) because it had proper steering wheels paddles rather than buttons. I concluded this car had great suspension and steering for my requirements.
Subsequently I went to buy a 2005 version but this didnt feel as good as the hired car, now I dont know whether its a wrong un or the car has a different steering and suspension spec.
Am i just imagining these differences ?

Do you have the 2005 SLK 55? Did the 2006/2007 one have the 030 package? Otherwise, it should be the same.

I have no SLK at the moment, looking to buy.
If the car has paddles on the wheel does that mean its got the 030 package ?The (I am assuming) later car had an all leather wheel but with paddles.
Does te 030 option change the suspension ?

I think in the US, model year 2007 and later have the shift paddles instead of buttons.

The 030 sports package for the 55 have even stiffer suspension than what is already on the stock 55. (Nurburgring suspension on the 030 package).

Legin, are the alloys different on the model you have just driven compared to the first one?

No the wheels were the same, std multispoke design. Just looking at the MB website so looks like its all in my mind ! Is there any advantage in buying a later paddle wheel (2007) car over a 2005, gearbox software or some such ?
