Default Dynolicious for iPhone / iPod Touch

I saw this on Autoblog and thought it might be of interest. It has several good reviews on iTunes. My understanding is that the accelerometers in the iPhone and iPod Touch are very accurate and make this possible. I'm buying it and will test it out a bit tonight.

Autoblog: Dynolicious turns iPhone into cheap performance meter

I just saw this app and came by to see if anyone had seen it in action. Seems like a pretty cool little tool

Default Simple pleasure! PocketDyno + for iPod Touch

Decided to buy PocketDyno+ for my iPod touch.

Not sure how accurate this is but it tells me that my fastest 0-60mph time in my 230 was 6.75 seconds with maximum acceleration of 0.53g.

My VW Passat 2.0Tdi by comparison turned 8.4 seconds for 0-60mph and 0.51g acceleration.

Anyone else tried this?

John

I have Dynolicious, but have not played with it too much. I do know it is critical you set these apps up with the right curb weight, passenger weight, gas weight, drive train loss percentage, etc. for accurate readings.

Even so I had an enjoyable afternoon.

Kevin...why do you despise everything Apple/Mac? I'm seriously thinking of acquiring an Apple Mac Book because I'm so hacked off with having to watch my internet back on the Windows. I've just had to re-configure my son's PC following a virus attack for the fifth time.

Can't blame the virus attack or firewall issues on Windows with all the anti-virus/firewall protection software out there. Especially since some of it is freeware (Zone Alarm for example, great product!) And why people spend a ton of momey on a Mac, then turn around and buy Windows for Mac?!? Seems hypocritical to me. Plus, there is soooo much more software for PCs. Everything Mac is it stole from windows.

As for iPod, the only reason it has done so well from the beginning is all the advertising that was spent on it. I have a Toshiba Gigabeat 30G mp3 player that cost half what the going 30G iPod cost a few years back that is still going strong and I don't have to jump through electronic hoops to load songs...simple drag and drop with Media Player. Because something is well known does NOT make it a better product. Yes, that argument could very well be used against Windows, but be honest, Windows/PC has proved itself to be a worthy product even with its bugs.

...wait, am I whinning again...I HATE it when that happens!

You mean like Betamax vs VHS damn straight!

I have to admit I am not a huge Apple fan either for instance I much prefer "Napster to go" than Itunes but the real issue here is take up and whilst my creative labs MP3 is every bit as good as my Ipod I still end up using the Ipod because every car I have owned in recent years has an Ipod integration where as there isn't anything for other brands.

Whatever happened to interoperable standards?

THANK YOU!! I wasn't gonna bring the beta thing up, but that is a perfect example!

As for iPod integration, I understand, makes me sick. But I won't give in, dadgumit! I'm an electronic tech, I engineer my own integration!

And regarding interoperable standards? one word: proprietary (translation: kids who never learned to share.)

actually, interoperable standards is part of the reason why betamax failed (we have 2 units, still working, and a chest of cassettes, half of my childhood was recorded on those things!). Much like HD DVD vs Blu-ray, each media was exclusive...Sony learned their lesson that first time!

Apple is just better at marketing, not at engineering. Damn people think they are 'rebelling' and being 'unique' by being 'counterculture'....hopeless yuppies....
