| Hello everyone! I just bought a 2006 Certified Pre-Owned SLK 350 w/AMG Sports Package last Friday and I am loving it! It's in for service right now for a few minor things. The main thing was that when the roof is up it makes quite a bit of noise. Even turning the car at low speed would cause the roof to make cracking sounds, and the bumps in the road made it sound like the whole car would fall apart. This is extremely annoying not to mention disconcerting! I have faith though that they will fix the problem. Afterall, it's a Mercedes, right? It shouldn't make noises like that. I do have a question about the little antenna on the back left quarter panel. Does that need to be removed (if possible) before going through a carwash? I don't want it to snap off. I look forward to hearing from some of you. Torchlight |

| Welcome! Hope your roof issue gets resolved. As far as a car wash...I only use Laser wash car washes if I don't wash it by hand. I would not have one of those spinning thrashing machines hitting my cars paint! ![]() They pick up dirt from many cars and it turns those spinning straps into spinning sand paper! ![]() I am sure you can find a laser wash close by your home. ![]() SLKman

| Welcome Torchlight. Carwash ??!!! You may consider changing the OEM 16-inch whip antenna to the R170 5-inch antenna. Link: http://www.slkworld.com/general-modi...0-antenna.html

| Hi all! Thanks for the feedback and for the welcome messages. It feels good to be in the family! I will check into the alternate antenna and the laser carwash. I have never heard of that before. Live and learn, right? Thanks for the great advice! ![]() Jeff |

| Welcome!! Your new toy has a great clearcoat and paint job, and you'll be doing it an injustice to use any "touch" carwash. It's a small car, and fun to wash and polish yourself. Search the forums for "Zanio" ![]() On the roof issues, you are 100% on track - my roof very rarely makes any noise at all, and it should not. |

| Thanks! It's funny how the dealership I bought the SLK from said that a carwash is fine as long as it's touchless. But rather than take a chance, I will take your excellent advice and get out the bucket and chamois. Any suggestions on soaps, waxes, etc.? |

| In reality, touchless carwashes are not bad, and MB paint in actually pretty robust. I personally avoid 'em, and use Zaino products - on both my cars - and the results are awesome... |

| I've been using Zaino for the last 2 years and am satisfied with it. Others here like the AutoGlym line of products.

| Welcome from Oregon. Enjoy your new ride. I would avoid the car washes. I just don't trust the recycled water. Besides it realy is a joy to care for it yourself |
