Default To mirror finish or not to mirror finish?

Ok so I'm looking around at window tints, and ran across something else I found interesting. It seems to be similar to "wet sanding" techniques that you see a lot of classic car restorers doing, but for new cars. According to the website's verbage, even fresh-from-the-facory new cars have microscopic pores in the paint's finish, and this technique "heats the paint, allowing it to seal itself into a smooth surface" and will "never need waxing" guaranteed for 3 years. If anyone has had something similar to this done can you share your thoughts? Also does anyone think this is bogus and that they're simply polishing your car? At least if it's guaranteed for 3 years if water stops beading off you could take it back in and say "make it bead again" . Mirror finish paint detailing...hmmm.....

I wouldn't do it. Sounds like they are just giving the paint an aggressive polish. It'll probably remove quite a bit of paint in the process. If you try it, tell them to keep all the pads they used on your car to prove they didn't take any of the paint off.
BTW, paint shops that do this type of finish for show cars need to spray 3-4 EXTRA coats of paint before they start this process...and that's over a paint job that's usually thicker than OEM.

Yeah - I suspect you end up with zero clear coat after this process - I can see it for custom paint jobs, or to restore a really dead one, but for a new car? Wouldn't go near it with a ten foot pole.

That's kinda what I was thinking, but wanted to get a 2nd opinion . I just couldn't see how they could "heat the pain" until it "seals itself". Sounded like a crap claim to me and that they're just polishing off the top coat or 2 but it's always good to get another opinion on stuff like this.
