SoCal Meetup this Saturday (Rancho Santa Fe)

The wife and I will be in SoCal this weekend. We pull in to Rancho Santa Fe Friday and head back to Pheonix on Sunday. I understand that it is short notice, but wondered if any of the SoCal contingent would like to meet for lunch and photos on Saturday the 14th?

We don't know the area very well, so we would be looking for suggestions on where to meet. Also, remembering that the US Open is this week, I am guessing we would want to stay well away from Torry Pines.

I will be driving my father's SLR and the wife will be in the SLK. If we can get a few of the members together we should have some nice picture opportunities.

Any takers for a Flag Day meetup?

count me in! i would bet you're looking to have some fun in the SLR... maybe we can meet in san clemente and take a run through ortega hwy... i really don't know the san diego area, maybe others can chime in with suggestions.

Enjoy the SLR for me its one hell of a car, my cousin has a gold SLR roadster and when I got to drive it was a pure bliss. What a car, ever heard of a supercar which has the ability to de activate the passenger airbags if a baby seat is installed.

San Clemente looks to be just North of Camp Pendleton and maybe 30 miles from Rancho Santa Fe, so we could do that. RSF is North of San Diego proper and near the Del Mar racetrack. For something South of Pendleton and North of RSF, we have golf course areas (again, just glancing at the map) of Aviara and La Costa. Any good driving/eating around there??

Count me in. V8SLK, we can meet at Costco Parking Lot, at their gas station at 115 Technology Dr, Irvine, CA 92618, then caravan to meet up with Cold Shot. Hope Tslick chimes in soon with a meeting place.

That sounds fine to me. Does he have a suggestion as to where to meet? Or should we just look for something like a Starbucks just off the 5? Afraid I don't know the area very well.

As for time to meet, how about 10:30 AM. That way it would be just about lunch time after our ride.

Wow, those are two very different routes. You guys are more North than I thought. Given the cost of gas and the time investment, I would propose you more Northern folks drive down via Scott's route and we could meet up with you at the brewery. Then, we could take a shorter 30 to 45 minute ride after that. I certainly don't want to have you guys drive more than an two hours South and then do another hour or two of driving with us. Nor do I think the wife would be happy with us in seperate cars driving more than an hour North to start a 2 hour drive back South.

1. Scott, Tom, perhaps Oscar and Edward, and myself meet 9:30 am at Starbucks, at Ortega Hwy at San Juan Capistrano and proceed south as shown (Scott's route) to Stone Brewery in Escondido.

2. Meet Mr and Mrs Cold Shot at Stone Brewery for lunch. (circa 12 noon).

3. After lunch, decide on another drive route nearby. Tslick, any thoughts?

4. Return home after second drive route.

5. Everyone gets to go home for dinner.

I am open and flexible to other suggestions. I hope other members from San Diego area can join also. Thoughts and input welcome.
