Sometimes youtube adds to the frustration and you just want to get down to your dealer and test drive another SLK anyways LOLAnd when they ask why you're testing driving again, just make up something

God, that wait can be so painful. I feel your pain. I don't think I could bear to wait 7 months for an SLK that I've already ordered. It took me a bit longer than that to find mine, but once I found the one I liked, I was driving away in it that weekend. If I had found it, and had to wait months for it, that would have made me nuts.

| Hang in there ir-ops. My prior order on the 280 took 3 months, the 55 took 5 months (but I had the 280 to drive around until delivery). What helped was reading the mods I planned to do over and over(e.g., SmartTop, clear front side markers)

thank you all... worst of all is that, the day they let me know that their computer has shown the 20th of may as day of completion at the plant, local mb ad reps did not really bother to inform me about the whereabouts of the car thereafter: when did it leave the factory? is it in a ship? a plane? across the adriatic sea? where is it anyway? what are the exact dates of arrival? when is the exact delivery date? so i called them a couple of times during the last week, and after a brief hide and seek of their reps, they told me they would call me during this week to inform. no call received so far .i will call them again tomorrow! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- for xpcdoojk: congrats on the new purchase, and enjoy yr trip in europe! with rothenburg, do you mean rottenberg close to linz, or rothenbuch close to wien in austria? or some place else? it is a nice little cycle you are driving between germany-austria and switzerland, allow me to suggest the following itinerary: after salzburg heading south: sankt moritz-davos-vaduz(liechtenstein)-lindau-zurich-luzern-bern-montreux-chamonix/mont blanc(france)- annecy(france)-geneva-lausanne-basel-freiburg im breisgau(germany)-baden baden-karlsruhe-heidelberg-frankfurt. you mentioned zermatt, but it really is out of this route, and you will need to drive many km in addition to go there. unless you have a specific reason, you could visit chamonix-mont blanc instead (as above), which is really close to montreux, at abt 80+ km south and so you get to visit the highest mountain in the swiss alps. zermatt has some nice black pistes, but unless you go for skiing during the winter, i don't think there is anything special you will miss during this period. just my 2c of course. i love the area there, and visit it as often as possible. my next trip is due in september, hopefully with the slk... best ir-ops

Hi all, I just saw your posts about picking up your car in Germany. You must be so excited. My wife and I are finalizing the lease details on a pickup of an SLK350 for September in Stuttgart and we are so excited to do the trip you guys are talking about. I have a few questions if any of you could take the time. I need a sanity check on the true process of ED. Did any of you do a lease? if so my sales rep is offering us the overseas delivery at the exact same price as it is on the mbusa.com site. Is this correct? isn't there any negotiating room? We are ordering the 2009 SLK350 with p1, sport, multimedia, heated seats and they offered it at 55884 and said there was a mandatory 2k down for placing the order as an ED. This price is nothing more than the regular MSRP * 7%. You can find the same price at NADA for invoice. Am I wrong to assume that I can negotiate? I am finding that really hard to believe. I have always done fairly well negotiating a car in the past but they are not budging. I guess my question is should I reset my expectations? Best Regards Jchou

There used to be a 7% discount when you did an ED. (xrectile dysfunction?) That would pay for some traveling around. I think some dealers will discount. When I bought mine (not ED), they were offering no discounts (though I did have a trade in so hard to say what really happened)

Thanks, I ended up doing the standard deal of 7% off. With no delivery fee it gets closer to 8%. They also have a non-negotiable $2000 fee to begin the ED process. All in all my wife and I are very excited and will be picking it up in Stuttgart on September 8. :-)
