| OK, so now that I've fully recovered from the shock and horror of seeing my SLK pushed down a hill and into a pile of rocks (ugh...), the mod-geek in me is coming out strong and seeing this as an opportunity to do some modifications to the SLK. I'm thinking of buying a body kit and having it installed. The problem is that many of the body kits out there are as ugly as sin, so I'm trying to find some that will be acceptable for my baby. My requirements are: 1) paint and clearcoat color/quality must match Mercedes factory standards 2) It's gotta look good 3) I would prefer something from either Mercedes, or one of the reputable aftermarket tuners 4) something that can be installed by my Mercedes dealership or a reputable body-shop I'm looking for recommendations on good body-kits, any pics that people might have of body-kits they've installed and which they like a lot, links to where I might be able to purchase such stuff, etc. Any info, people? I'm new to the SLK and to the Mercedes badge, so any feedback would be helpful. Thanks! |

| Still sorry about that and i personally wouldn't be over that until my baby is shining and good as new again and i'm enjoying the wind in my hair etc... Well i've searched around for bodykits and the only bodykit which i like or i'm happy with is the AMG kit :P I'll be honest the brabus kit is nice but a little over the top. Do you have any Merc approved or a reputable spray shops in your area? Not to sure how it works on that side of the pond. If you want to mod, i'd start with the led side mirrors :P like on the facelifted models. Those are definitely nice imo. |

| I would go for the Brabus bodykit if I were you, it looks nice and its very sublte adding that german executive sports look whilst still looking respectful. www.brabus.de

| Ooooh... I really like the Brabus front spoiler with the integrated daytime running lights. Not sure how I feel about the lights themselves, but the shape of that front spoiler is really nice. I checked their catalog, and they show no prices. I'm almost afraid to ask how much something like that would cost. It is a very nice kit, though. |

| NoRegret4Life - I have read elsewhere on the forum that you are a Piecha reseller/distributor. I am interested in the Piecha bodykit - front spoiler, side skirts, and rear skirt with dual exhaust cutout, and also the front daytime light strips (there are two types shown on Piecha's website, one has a silver background on the strip, the other looks like dark gray - I would be more interested in the dark gray as I am going to go for the blackout look on my black SLK). I am also considering the Piecha quad exhaust after hearing sound clips posted on this site. I'm thinking that I will do all at once. My insurance company may not want to replace OEM with aftermarket parts, but shouldn't care too much, considering the cost will be quite similar. I am planning to do the exhaust myself, since it looks very easy (much easier than the custom headers/exhaust I fabricated and welded on with a friend for his 1993 Mustang Cobra). Has anyone here installed any of the Piecha bodykits? Do you like it? Any thoughts? My current plan is this: 1) Have Piecha body kit installed by Mercedes-recommended body shop (it is right by my office), all parts including rear skirt painted OEM black with clearcoat 2) Install Piecha quad-tip exhaust myself after body kit is installed 3) Install Green air filters I just need some kind of pricing information, so I can run it by my insurance and see what they have to say. Any opinions from any forum members would be highly appreciated. |

| Get the MB sports package airbox it adds performance to your car and since its a manual it will make the car feel more responsive as well.

I'm still interested in the Brabus kits, but not sure my insurance company would want to chip in on any of it, especially considering the price. I'm sorry, but $4-5k USD for a bodykit is ridiculously overpriced. I'm finding that to be true with most of the aftermarket stuff for the SLK. I was laughing at the absurd prices of headers and exhaust systems - especially considering the abundance of specialty exhaust shops that will actually build you this stuff from scratch, heat-treated or ceramic-coated, for much less than what you see online. I've seen full custom exhaust systems for Porsches (such as my old car), from the headers all the way back to the tips, for under $2k USD. And that was ceramic-coated stainless steel, nothing cheap, custom mandrel bends, the works. I can't believe how much Brabus/Lorinser/AMG/etc charge for their custom headers and exhaust systems. | |

| Seems like I've read a lot of conflicting reports about that airbox. I'll go check it out, ask my dealership about it - I don't want to void the extended warranty that I just paid for. |

| I thought the airbox was just a filter like on the 350 and in addition it also gives it a better exhaust note but also increased fuel consumption (unless its the "green" one) ? |

| Thats the green, the airbox is a larger air intake box that adds larger volume of air to be sucked into the cars engine for a better and more responsive driving experience. The green filters plus the airbox I am talking about is a nice combination for good performance once combined with the back boxes "mufflers".
