| Last weekend I had an accident in my 2000 SLK. I was hit both on the nearside front end by a Ford KA and then in the offside by a 30 tonne truck, no-one was hurt. The KA was destroyed and the truck bent his bumper. My SLK? although badly dented it started first time and then drove me 80 miles home. I think that this car deserves a well earned round of applause and if it is written off I will definately buy another one. ![]() |

| They will probably write it off because of the shell sensitivity but that's the way MB designed it like they design all the other car's they make. Metal can sacrifice itself to protect flesh, it's easily replaced after all.

| I am glad it all worked out well and nobody get injured. It is reassuring to hear that the SLK is solidly made and safe. |

| Yes and I agree, I just saw a thread on benzworld how the SLK saved a mother on mothers day doing 55mph and being hit by a drunk driver in a large dodge pickup truck. Sure the car is totaled but they came out with only seatbelt burns and thats it,
