| I have just acquired an SLK350 with the AMG body kit. I know that you pay through the nose for what seems to be a few bits of plastic, but can anyone please show me what exactly you get for the money, preferably with photos showing with and without the kit? Either all the SLKs that I have seen have the kit fitted or it's hard to tell the difference. |

| In the US, you also get a lowered suspension bits, shift buttons on the steering wheel (2007 models have paddles instead of buttons), AMG style fog lights, and different alloy wheels. I don't know if it's the same everywhere. |

| From what I understand, if you get the package it will look just like the SLK55 AMG, but of course, without the engine. It definitely looks much better with the amg package. |

| The AMG kit is a little different then the SLK55, it is rounder w/o the air vents on the front side bumper. 10mm lower up front, stiffer suspension, with the five spoke wheels. Here are some old pics of mine. ![]() ![]() |

| Thanks for the pictures PaKKO. As I suspected there isn't all that much difference, certainly not £2600 worth! |

| I believe the 2009 does not get the same bumper / body treatment, but does get 18" AMG sport wheels (upgrade from 17" standard), lowered suspension, paddle shifters, and a trunk spoiler. |

| I would have to disagree there. The sport package transforms the look of the standard car into something much more aggressive, but one step less than the 55. It's also a better value to order it with the car because adding it on afterwards would be more than what the factory option costs. In the US, the sport package and nav are the only two things that add to the wholesale value of a used SLK. I would not have bought our SLK without the sport package. |

"AMG Sport Package: 18'' AMG multi-spoke wheels AMG-Design Front Air Dam, Side Skirts, Rear Apron, and Trunk Lid Spoiler Sport Suspension Steering Wheel-Mounted Gearshift Paddles with Manual Mode" That sounds like exactly what's already on the AMG 55 to me! The other AMG Performance Package only available to the slk55 does not have anything about extra bodywork included, therefore the AMG Sport Package must already be on it. The slk55 gets twin spoke multipiece wheels rather than just the multispoke which is available for the 300 and 350.

I would think MB would still want to differentiate in the same way for 2009. Historically, MB cars with the AMG sport package received body kits similar to the AMG models, but still different in subtle ways. The new price of $2,500 is a much better deal than the previous years, when the package cost $4,000 USD.

When you say "gills", are you talking about those ones on the top of the hood or something else on the side?

| I think he means the slits at the side of the front bumper cover below the front side marker. They look like the gill slits of a shark.

Maybe gills are the wrong word. I'm talking about the openings on the side of the front bumper. On 05-08 they're on the 55, but not on the lower models. I believe the things on the hood are called "Aerowings" and again in the past only came on the SLK55. Authentic versions from the dealer sell for nearly $800, but replace the entire plastic hood vents. Aftermarket aerowings simply attach are around $100 or less.

| BTW, what about the front in the grill? I notice that in pictures the slk 55 has black "fins" and the others have the respective color of the car? Forgive me if I'm not calling them the right thing, I'm not exactly familiar with all the terms as I'm a first time buyer and don't know a whole lot about cars. I'm sure I'll learn as I go. |

Piecha makes covers for the 05-08 and calls them "Kühlerstegblenden". I think the 09s will be a different size.
