| I need some spirite help here. Local police really target me. ticket #1: driving out of my house, in the subdivision with speed limit of 25, a cop zapped me doing 32mph!! got 3 points! 500feet from my house!! sad ticket #2: following a white van and a SUV, police pulled me over and ignored the van and SUV, 55 over 45 !! I tried to be very very nice to the police, no use, police assume I am super rich. got 3 points. Frustrated. ticket #3: leaving a parking meter, doing a U turn, police zapped me again, I need to go to court. Now I am upset and angry. These are three tickets in a month over 12 years of my clear driving history. What should I do? Can I get the Secretary of States of Michigan to reduce my points by attending driving school and re-educated? Please give me advise! I feel so so alone. |

| Quite sorry to hear. I don't know what the regulations are for the city (Detroit) and state (Michigan). You may want to seek professional legal advice. What does the total of the 3 tickets amount to (if I may ask)? I certainly would at least start with the local Auto Club Insurance division and ask for assistance or at least they can point you in the right direction. After the 3 events, do be VERY CAREFUL while driving, being alert to the posted speed limits, etc. I think the cities and municipalities are hungry right now.

| Some advice from a magazine I recently read: 1. Always go to court to contest the ticket. But: 2. Always ask for a continuance by mail or phone just before going to court. It increases the chance that the officer will not show up and the ticket will be dropped. 3. Be prepared. Come with photos, drawings, witnesses, etc. Be VERY respectful of the officer and the Court while there. 4. Speed guns are not infallable. Nor are other forms of technology used to clock you. Ask for certificatations of calibration. 5. Ask for alternative punishments. Volunteer work, traffic school, etc. Anything to keep the tickets off your record and insurance. And, of course, don't get caught!!

| three tickets are $120 each. Money is not the only issue. I am afraid the points may do something of my driver's license. I don't know can they suspend my license? |

| Always do the traffic school (if allowed), some places allow you to do it over the internet. This may reduce the number of points so it won't affect your car insurance rates. Do call your car insurance agent and talk to them to find out what the rules are for your state. You can also check the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) website. I don't think they'll suspend your driver's license. The violations are not for reckless driving or excessive speed.

| Might sound funny, but ask all of your friends if they are friends with any cops in your area. I'm lucky that one of my best friends from childhood happens to be a cop. He gives me a Police card every year, and man does it come in handy. I have used it about 4 times. Every time I get pulled over (which happens pretty often) I hand the officer my license along with my friends police card. I get a "just slow down please..." and I am on my way... Try to ask around and see if anyone can get you one of those cards. |

| i got one speeding ticket last friday. 85 on 65(what he told me), my radar didn't go off, he didn't turn on his head light(yes no headlight)... and it's 8 pm, dark.(reckless driving for him) he just follow me i guess, i AM FOLLOWING some other car ahead of me. he sound his siren when i ready to get off the freeway. I didn't even talk one word to him, because he came up and i saw him wear a sun glass...it's 8pm at night he is driving a car without turning on the headlight and he even wear a sun glass. that night, TV news talking about our state budget problem, and they are showing how they trying to get money from us, mostly, ticket. and they do target people, they treat people differently. long time ago, when i am still student, i drive some crap toyota. not fully stop at a stop sign, he had a big spot light on me, and ask me turn off the engine, hand on the wheel. nowdays, my ride getting better, they NEVER turn on the spot light on me, and NEVER ask me turn off the engine, even call me Sir. ah ah haha. |

| I read that Michigan has a lot of problems and I'm guessing that you got ticketed at the end of the month when cops needed to meet their quota. There was an article saying that they are letting some roads turn back to gravel because there is not enough money to maintain them. Sorry to say that I do think you were technically breaking the law in all three cases. Most likely they will let you pay the fine + fees and attend traffic school for some more money. |

| Does your radar detector also pick up laser? Last week, at the end on and I-95 on ramp I saw a FHP trooper using laser at oncoming traffic...my radar/laser detector did not go off either as it was aimed away, and unlike radadr waves the light waves do not scatter... |

| I got stopped pulling out of my neighborhood just 2 weeks after getting my car. Policeman says I took off a little fast and he clocked me going 64 in a 45. Truth is it is a 55 zone and GA law doesn't allow local Police to write speeding tickets for under 10 over the limit only State Patrol can do that and at only 1 over if they want. So since he can't write me for the speeding he writes me up for "Too fast for conditions". That one can pretty much be written for anything they want don't even have to be going the posted limit and they can write you for that. I just paid the $129 and moved on turns out for this offense they don't even report it to the state so it doesn't go on my driving record....Can you say easy way for municipalities to raise money.

| sorry to hear, just cause ur car is catchy haha i get police targeting me too, when i used to have my tint on and no front plate, the police can just pops up right behind me all of a sudden and already know that i have no plate and tint on when they walk up to me without going around to confirm, i guess they have me in record... i rarely got a speeding ticket tho, only once when i was rushing for my exam. other occasion, i am very award of police and drive at a safe speed, just like last night, the police, again, tailgated me, probably trying to get me go faster and ticket me but i knew he is a undercover so i drive at 50, he can't do anything to me then u-turn and left |
