| Alright this has been a long time in the making....I bought a used OEM AMG kit and had shipped from CA sometime in January (Thanks Dan for your assistance verifying parts) My Body Shop has had it since waiting to paint and install. Finally after a very patient wait (thankfully it was winter and no driving was being done) he is almost complete. I went down today to check progress and snapped these shots...amazing difference, totally transforms car. I took this from my camera phone so quality is garbage but it's good for a tease.. I should get the car back this Fri so I will try and post some real shots during the weekend.... |

| That looks much better and more aggressive especially with the 19" wheels. Look forward to more pics.

| I think it makes a huge difference in looks. Congrats. BTW, it seems like you got the Euro front bumper without the orange sidemarkers. Cool.

| It looks beautiful and the body shop did good work I think the "washer pop up thingy's" are the high pressure water jet of the Headlamp Cleaning System. Nice "Euro spec" look, although I like the clear side markers myself (personal taste). Await more photos. Addendum: If you had the "shark gills" or slits on the front bumper, the side marker lights/lamps could be fixed just above them and give you a nice backlight of the gills during nightime driving (as there are no more side markers), just a thought.

| Steven car looks really great! Bet your choppen at the bit... can't wait to get her back, specially since we finally have great weather. I too really like the fact that there's no orange side marker gives the car a much smoother look

| I was hoping to get a chance to take some nice pictures at some scenic location but the weather around here has been unpredictable at best. I snapped some in the driveway when I brought her home last Friday thought some would enjoy. I haven't even driven yet except home from the body shop....I will post some nice shots sometime in the near future. Some inspiration for those of you who are thinking of doing the same as well as some observations...... 1. AMG panels lower the clearance significantly...even more so for me since I have lowered with Brabus springs. 2. Keep looking through the usual list of sites for used parts/kits as I saved an enormous amount by buying used. I found mine on MBworld, These are few and far between but not impossible to find. I paid around $1k for the whole assembly not including labor/install (these total over $4k if purchased through MB). 3. Do your homework and make sure that you have all the parts you need. I had to modify the panel behind the stock fog lights slightly to accept the new AMG type.... which was different. Other than that the parts consisted of: -Front bumper cover complete with fog lights and mesh lower grille(s). -(2) side rocker panels (these bolt right up) -Rear bumper cover and (3) foam blocks that provide impact resistance/absorption. 4. Probably the most important....find a good body shop/guy. In my case I made freinds with the owner of mine (also a MB guy) and he loves these cars. He took extra time and care to make the job perfect....paint matching is paramount (and not easy). Total paint/install cost was around $1k as well...he even painted my antenna and filled over the headlight washer covers. Lastly.......Wow!!!!!!!! ![]() :Banan e45: what a huge difference in appearance. For those who are debating on weteher to get the AMG package on their new order SLK's I say...do it, it is well worth the cost and a relative bargain when compared to going back and trying to achieve the same thing. Hope you enjoy the pictures....hey...anyone want to buy soem stock body parts...only 2k miles and without a blemish.... Last edited by nevets; 04-30-2008 at 07:59 PM. |
