Default What are you guys paying for gas?

I'm paying $4 a gallon now. I just filled up yesterday and it cost me $62 to fill up from about a 1/4 of a tank. These gas prices are getting out of control. What are you guys paying?

By the way, I paid that price in Stamford, CT.

Around $3.45 for regular unleaded (non SLKs), roughly $3.79 for premium unleaded, and $4.01 for diesel. I filled up the VW NewBeetle diesel last weekend, ($3.95.9 per gallon), $57.31. The most I've ever spent on one fill up. OUCH!

Here in Texas it's at $3.65 for my SLK and $3.29 for regular unleaded. Diesel is at $4.09.

I've heard rumors that once a new president is elected, the gas prices should stabilize and possibly decrease. Without getting into political discussion, does anyone know if there's any truth to the possibility?

Can't imagine change of administration would have any effect. Supply, demand, and greed. In any order you choose.

I've been in energy for over two years now, and I follow the natural gas and crude oil markets on a daily basis. The real reason behind the higher gas prices can be attributed to the decreasing value of the dollar. Tie that in with summer driving season right around the corner with higher demand for gas and the potential to see the supply numbers decrease, and that's your answer. Until the economy gets turned around, we'll probably see prices stay where they are. Over the summer, we may even see prices climb higher. Also, the dollar is the only currency in which oil is traded, so when our dollar is weak, prices become inflated to compensate for the weak dollar. So because oil is priced in U.S. dollars on the world market, the currency's depreciation has concerned producers because it has contributed to rising crude prices and eroded the value of their dollar reserves.

Who knows when it will stop?

We're paying the equivalent of just over $US 4 bucks a gallon in my area.

Dan, do you remember a couple of months ago, there was a big deal in the UK about fuel going up to £1/litre (1 litre = approx 1/5 gallon = approx $2) - once they got over that, it's gone up (surreptitiously and quickly) to about £1.18 per litre which for our colonial friends equals about $12 per gallon

It always goes up, it never comes down. I've bought cheaper cars in the past, than it now costs me to fill the tank up on my SLK

Yeah I'm paying about £1.15 per litre for diesel and £1.08 per litre for petrol.

They've just got to bring the prices down because it's getting ridiculous, it would better for them to be putting the prices up on non-essential items such as cigarettes and booze (sorry to those who smoke), but not on fuel because nearly everyone has to drive to at least once per day.

I do indeed remember that.

The increase does not effect my SLK so much because i only give it £50 worth of fuel every 2 weeks but my wifes daily driver has become a real pain in my ass, its not thirsty and she only uses it when she has to but its still costing me an arm and a leg.

I feel sorry for those trying to run an SLK daily on UK fuel prices.

$3.69 reg to $4.09 prem in NorCal.

Danslk,

I always hear how expensive everything is overseas. However, I've often wondered what an average salary is in the UK. So, here in California, entry level associates in say McDonald's pay $8.00 an hour. What would a similar job pay in the UK?

It would be the minimum wage so it would be one of the following -

18-21 - £4.60 PH
22 up - £5.52 PH

At the current exchange rate that's about $9.20 and $11 respectively.

I was gonna say it's up to about $3.80 for premium here in ATL but that seems cheap after hearing what our brothers are paying in Europe...ouch.
