Default So hard to find freakin wheels!

SLKWorld noob here with a question on wheels. I have an 06 SLK55 and I have a hard freakin time finding wheels that will fit my car that won't require spacers. I went to three different sources for wheels and they all told me the same thing: the huge brakes and offset are making it impossible. One guy said that the only possible wheel that he came up with are the Petrol Vengeance wheels. Im lookin for a black 5 spoke or mesh look. I'm thinking about just powdercoating my stock wheels since I can't find anything I like that will fit. Any suggestions on possible wheels that would work? Or know of any SoCal places that do a good job of powdercoating?

Thanks.

Tons of aftermarket wheels. Look only at wheels that will fit the SLK 55. eBay has plenty. Verify through seller (dealer) that they will fit or they will refund your money. I previously adapted a set of Cadillac XLR 18" wheels to my wife's former CTS. Sent the wheels off to "drill and insert" the wheel, changing the bolt pattern and used custom spacer to adjust the offset. Also had to change the stationary wheel lug bolts to longer ones. Expensive, time consuming process but they worked and looked a a million bucks. Wouldn't recommend adapting wheels that don't fit, unless you can with a thin spacer. Good luck!

Look at site buywheelstoday.com they have a pretty good selection of wheels to fit. The TSW wheels are not very expensive and several of us on the site have had very good results with them. Also DPE makes custom fitments that look great and can be ordered in a lot of different color options but they are a good bit more price, but then again the DPE are multi-piece wheels. My TSW only required a 3mm rear spacer front clearance was fine and the 3mm is so small I was ok with it, some of the other TSW wheels don't need any spacers at all.

what's your budget? Any custom wheels, DCR, DPE, iForged, HRE', forgeline, the list goes on and on will custom make to fit your needs. TSW's, AMG replicas will fit, most will need spacers.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Yea I'm lookin to spend maybe 600 max per wheel so my budget is not that high. The guys I went to said most of the higher end wheel manufacturers might fit but they are way out of my budget (over 1000 a wheel). I don't want to run spacers because everyone keeps telling me it throws handling off and stresses out your suspension. Someone also suggested that I can get wheels with spacers machined into the wheel but they dont know if thats any better than running regular spacers. I'm diggin the whole black wheel look so I was considering powdercoating the stock wheels a gunmetal or black. Know of anyone who has done this?

Cyberdrakon painted his OEM SLK 55 (16-spoke wheels) to a dark grey metallic color. He said it could be powder coated also. Send him a PM and he's in SoCal.

$2,400, I think CCW's are around that price, maybe a couple of hundreds more, your choice is very limited with that budget, I would hang around mbworld's classifieds to see if anyone is selling their wheels for the c, clk, and slk class. Good luck in your search. Axis wheels are around $600 each, might what to give them a call.

Here are a couple of great sites that let you look at the actual wheels on your car.

http://www.tirerack.com/

http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/interactive.do

It's a nice place to start. They even let you pick the factory available color of your car.

For example:

Another wheel and now a elegant, subtle and very classy carlsson setup that will enhance the slk terrificly.

For carlsson these cost little in comparison to their retail price which are overly expensive like brabus, check them out:

Its for a C-class W204 new model but I think it has a high chance of fitting on the SLK.
