I have no specific comment relating to age, profession, income or ability to own a SL .....however IMO I think the re-styling of this car (especially the front end) has fallen way short of my expectation. It too looks.......well.....er, "Americanized"....previous references to Chrysler are spot on. In fact I belive I made the same assessment some time ago when the first pictures were circulated. Again, as with the new SLK they are over-using the "egg crate" grille and have cheapened the appearance.

You'll find out most young people who are successful doesn't work for anyone but themselves. A lot of rags to riches stories on lambo forums if you are interested. My cousin in his mid 30's, only a few years older than me, with no high school degree, he dropped out, worked at a restaurant in his teens, worked his way up to a cook, saved a lot of money, b/c he works 6 days/week, no time to spend his money. Brought the restaurant he'd worked at, sold that, opened a million dollar one, now he is doing pretty well. He's always looking at six figure cars, he wants the new Lexus LF-A, he said I should go with him and buy one too, so we can get some discounts, I told him I'm a lowly IT worker. Can't afford a $150+ car. What I'm trying to say is that, young people can purchased expensive cars too but from my experience, it's mostly young entrepreneurs.

^That's definitely true, I'm always thinking about getting out of the IT field and doing something different on my own. It's hard once you're in it and "comfortable" to risk doing something that could be unsuccessful...

I hear you, I make decent money working half the week, no stress, 5 weeks vacation, unlimited surfing on company time. if you count the days minus 5 weeks, I actually work 5 months a year. Having your own business is hard work, my parents, brother, and nearly all my friends owned their businesses, it's not something I want to do now or anytime soon. I value my time more than money, that could change tomorrow.

OK, back OT. I haven't seen the new SL here yet. I am a fan of the previous model, but as others have said, I'd buy an SLK before an SL if I were in the market for a new car, and could obviously afford the SL. Then again, I'm not sure my wife would let me buy it even if we could afford it. She's the more practical one of us. Which is not to say the SL isn't practical for some, just not me. HECK! I'm sure there are people at my church who think me driving an SLK isn't practical. But let's not go there.

BTW, how did this end up in "171 General Discussion". Just curious.
