Default State your occupation here!

Hey everyone -

I was thinking about this earlier, and being that our SLK's are pretty nice cars... I was wondering what everyone does for a living on the SLKworld community? Don't feel obligated to respond if you don't feel comfortable. I think that it would be great to use this as a networking tool as well.
Use this post to give some details on what you do for a living. I'll kick it off.

I am working for two companies in Connecticut. One is global commercial real estate advisory firm located in Greenwich, CT. I represent tenants and assist them in finding commercial office space in buildings all over southern CT, Westchester, NY and New York City.

My other job is energy brokerage with a firm located in Stamford, CT. I help commercial end users of electricity and natural gas secure energy contracts for their business. So the big building owners who spend millions a year on energy costs... I help find them an energy contract to lower their costs and negotiate prices, terms, and different products with alternative electricity and natural gas suppliers all over the country.

I'd love to hear what it is that you all do!
Best,
John

My occupation is pretty tough and demanding but at the end of the day I am doing something that I truly like which is practicing law, I am a Lawyer that practices Business law in my family's law firm and my second job is with an investment firm whom I also serve their legal obligations.

Run my own SMALL business: TWC & Associates, Inc. www.twcassociates.com Company is 9 years old now, (since I was in high school).

We make promotional goods for marketing companies, and custom gifts for high-end boutiques. Currently we supply about 30% of the SoCal auto dealerships in SOME way, (either some of their gift shop items, or their promotional keyring/pens).

This is slow season for my business! take a look at my web page if you need any promotional goods made up! (80% of the things are in inventory, the rest are produced on your order). Turn around time for in-stock items including imprinting and engraving is 7-10 business days. We specialize in hard goods such as key chains, letter openers, pens, desk clocks, and backpacks, but we can engrave and print on many other things, such as sweaters, blankets, t-shirts, watches, name badges, trophies, plaques, hats, etcetera.

Doctor, lung specialist, I also give medical assistance to patients returning to the UK when they are taken ill abroad. Love both jobs...
The first allows me to do research and clinical medicine and the second to see the world..

Always an interesting topic. Here's a link to a previous thread from this forum, same subject, started July 2006. Might be interesting to review this one also.
http://www.slkworld.com/off-topic/25...do-living.html
I retired from the US Air Force in March 1994. My brother in law and I opened a Pawn Shop in Danville, VA and worked together for two years. After two years, I sold my half interest to him and opened another Pawn Shop closer to home in Prince George VA. So for the past fourteen years, I've been self employed, which is the best profession of all. The pawn business is an interesting and rewarding business and I run it as a professional, void of the stereotypes most associate with the business. I enjoy it.

Have a degree in physics, but I've been programming computers since 1967 or thereabouts. Worked for Owens Corning Fiberglas in the fiber research group. Then 23 years with Occidental Petroleum and now 10 years with MJW Corporation. www.mjwcorp.com for those interested.

Spent 3 years in Ghana teaching math at a teacher training college before any of that. The time in Africa was the most exciting and interesting. Returning home from Ghana and after touring around Europe on the way, we then started out our married life in the states with $75 to our names. Thank goodness for gracious parents

hah like Naomi Campbell? that T5 seems to be a royal mess, good to stick it to BA a bit, as i think they are slightly too importan for their own good, slap them into shape a bit.

I am a porperty developer and investor.work for the family business, in which originated as Rotary, an engineering business, and has since broadened into property and hospitals oddly.
i studied archaeology at uni, then did a property investment degree and now doing my masters in it. gotta be done, no matter how boring it is.

I'm a UI designer, independent consultant. Currently working for a client mainly in Cleveland and Atlanta, but they have offices all over the world. I work on their B2B online ordering sites, intranet, employee communications and other projects.

Before that I worked for Arthur Andersen, KPMG Consulting, and BearingPoint doing the same thing in their Houston energy (Oil and Gas) practice.

Before that I worked at Microsoft designing UI for their Pocket PC devices and smartphones.

My S.O. works for the leading residential New York City real estate firm (apartment brokers). He drives the car about as much as I do, since I'm only home on Fridays and weekends.

I "tell pilots where to go" . I'm an Air Traffic Controller for the busiest En Route Facility in the world. We handle about 3 million operations every year and needless to say it is a real adrenaline rush.

I have a PhD in microbiology/molecular biology and work at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). I lead a group of molecular biologists in the study of sexually transmitted diseases such as gonorrhea and syphillis. A majority of our work is developing molecular methods of detecting antimicrobial resistance.

My wife also works at CDC in the foodborn diseases group. She has a PhD and a DVM. If you get sick eating bad sprouts her group tries to ID the cause.
