Thanks.

It definetly has its moments but it is a federal goverment job and some of the time I feel as if I'm doing more housekeeping paperwork than research. It has allowed us to travel alot to conferences, site visits, and provide training. Some places are OK like St. Louis this month (no offense) and then really interesting like Krakow, Poland next month.

P.S. Randy, please make sure my plane takes off on time next week!

Im the Director of Information Services for the Local Air Medical Service we pick up injured folks from accidents and get them quickly to the hospital, or offer rapid transfer from one hospital to another for sick patients. I basically manage all things technical in our organization, radios, phones, network, satellite gear...

I also work as a technology consultant for South Texas' Emergency Management Division. which is pretty interesting. I volunteer with our Regional Rescue team doing swift-water and high angle rescues in our region. Even spent 10 days in New Orleans with the Task Force, during which time we effected the rescue of almost 4000 people

Ph.D. in Chemistry. Scientist for high tech industry. I have a very satisfying job: helping our customer performing difficult experiments, most of them professors in science. At the end of day of hard work, my customer always thanks me sincerely, bring me to their house, show me their family photos. They view me as the guy who solve their problems and realize their dreams. Nice to deal with academics.

Wow - What honoured company!

I am a Management Consultant for IBM. I specialise in Social Care for Local Authorities (like counties in USA) and have been working on the UK changes to the Children's Agenda following some high visibility deaths.

That got me into fostering which I do for 2 boys. I also have 5 children of my own so I need a 2 seater sports car that doesn't allow for children for my (and my wife's) sanity.

hey all,
thought i'd put down a few words more than just my occupation, in a sort of 'get to know us better' approach:

greek/1968 born/6-footer/brown hair slowly turning white/slightly overweight lately, but working on that/happily married to a non-blonde pharma manager/no children/one 3-year old blue belton llewellin english setter (as seen exploiting my patience in the avatar photo)/tanker fleet operator for a shipping company of greek interests/located in athens, greece, since 2000/before that, studied and worked for shipping companies in freiburg germany, london, england, barcelona spain, and montreux switzerland/all sorts of music freak, cd collector and concert goer/non-smoker/aged bourbon and espresso coffee lover, but not much of a drinker/book swallower, especially history, and all matters wwi and wwii/more and more getting jeremy clarkson style cynic/road runner/scuba diver/water and alpine slalom skier/diver watch collector/panathinaikos football club (soccer) supporter (of the refined kind, not a hooligan)/in foreverongoing midlife crisis, and not yet in peace with death related matters (but a close friend and professional shrink-tai chi master-and-original-milf thinks i am still far away from emotionally collapsing or loosing it)/fan of 'lost' and 'house, md', the tv series/travel maniac, but not getting too many chances for that, as under wild work load during the last couple of years/awaiting to take delivery of my first convertible in may, a gift to myself turning 40 in august, without wifey knowing (about the car, not the age).

i guess this more or less wraps it up.
real honored to belong to your group...

best

Traditionally, I am an IT operations director. Currently, I am a IT project consultant (not by choice) for a large power company. Soon the wife and I hope to start our own business. Just need to pick one of the dozen plus ideas I have on a weekly basis.

What better way to relieve stress than to let the top back and put your foot in it. I actually have the only SLK here at our facility but we got a couple SLs including SL55 and plenty BMWs here too. Have to admit the SLK does get the most attention in the group

Out of curiosity how much does an air traffic controller get paid, if you don't mind me asking.

the older generation air traffic controller make decent salary before the government ramped the new contract down to the union. Now the new controllers make 2/3 of the salary if they are lucky. We have a very high drop out rate in the center. It typical takes at least 3 -4 years to become a certified controller.
