WIll you trade in your car for a GT-R?

I know the look of GT-R is not that great.
I know it's a Nissan...

Amen!!

I saw the GT-R in Okinawa...I wasn't all that impressed. Overgrown Sentra on HGH.

I think I will wait for the upcoming E-class AMG, supposedly it will have a 6.2 L Twin Turbo pushing up to 560hp stock.

Hi all, I've just joined this forum as I am in the middle of buying an SLK350.
I've had a Skyline R33 for about ten years, heavily modified. Probably about 500bhp. My brother and I race it in hill climbs and sprints (we live in the UK). I have put a refundable deposit down for the new R35 and have until April 2nd to confirm my order.
The Skyline is a great car but so far has cost me in excess of 180,000 USD in mods and repairs - we have blown the engine twice. My wife won't drive it as it's a manual box.
This week I had a test drive in an SLK350 and guess what - I liked it! So did the wife.
Within the next couple of days I will have to decide between the SLK now or the R35 next year (deliveries in the UK start March 2009)
Wish me luck!
Bill

Waiting to see other members views towards this car, I think he likes the car and doesnt think that the brand name "nissan" will affect the peoples views towards you and I cannot disagree as the car is an asset that you use to get to point A-B whilst some of us like the cars to be a stlye or ride in style which is totally fine by me.

alroumi added it to explain what the smiley means.

Welcome Bill (bjohnson), I think both of you will enjoy the R171 (SLK350).

Oh man...i wouldn't even consider a GTR over a 350...the performance just isn't there...unless you plan on continue running your R33 which is IMHO the best looking skyline GTR ever.

I wouldn't consider it either, but how can you say the performance isn't there? Performance-wise, even the SLK55 can't hold a candle to the GTR. Heck, even in an SLR you'd struggle beating that thing.

Not sure about the old GTR, but the 09 makes less than 500hp and I think I remember an SLR makes 620ish. there probably the same weight. But we are really not taking into account much of the actually car construction wise people don't take into account the SLR is built like a military aircraft. and thats coming from an aircraft designer. If we are going to compare plastic to nappa leather then i think most of us would rather be driving slower without that new Nintendo
smell. GTR is funkin awesome fun as the z06. but If we balance out features bringing in quality it's really hard to be proud of most cars these days based on simple performance. I'm crazy about plastic motorcycles for that.

I don't want a GT-R, but that doesn't mean I can't give Nissan credit were credit is due. Of course it's ugly and full of plastic, but when it comes to performance, an SLR won't eat a GT-R for breakfast. Far from it, actually. Here's some data:

SLR McLaren 722 Edition: $480,000 641hp 3.5s 3800lb
Nissan R35 GT-R : $69,000 450hp 3.8s 3000lb

Both have a published best lap time around the Nuerburgring Nordschleife of 7:38.
