| Hi all, Just wanted to say hi, my name is Tim, I live in Boston. I am a huge fan of Mercedes-Benz so this sounds like a great place to be. I am interested in purchasing an SLK but cannot decide if I should go for the 55 AMG or just go with the 350. I plan to go to the dealer this weekend and work it out. Any suggestions, thoughts, ideas? Look forward to talking with you all! Thanks! ![]() Tim |

| Welcome to the site Tim! I live in Boston too I got the final year model with the manual transmission on the 350, but now since the 350 does not come with the manual (in US anyways) anymore, I would opt for the 55 if cost is not an issue and you don't use it as a daily car. |

| Not sure how the roads are there but I don't know that it make a huge difference other than the 55 sits just a little lower. There is just something about that V8 rumble of the 55 though.

| 55 if cost is not a big concern. Otherwise, 350 with AMG sports package plus other options. BTW, Welcome!

| Welcome from Canada! I had 350 before and change to 55 few months ago, 55 definitely ride harder, but I can live with it as a daily car. The first time I started up the 55, I knew I want that car . I have seen snow in Boston and you need snow tire doesn't matter you go with 350 or 55. |

| Another welcome from Canada! Considering the 350's no longer come in 6MT I would go for the 55 AMG because now the AMG is better in every single aspect. (Except for price of course...) Oh and like nevets suggests, do consider AIRSCARF! Goodluck!!

| you can't go wrong either way as both are fantastic cars, as is the 280. it really boils down to personal preferences. speed and sport (55) or comfort and economy (280) or the best of both worlds (350). |

| Welcome Enchantris, I'm new to this site also. From everything I've seen the folks here are extremely nice and helpful. I've got the 280 and if I had to do it again (and will do in the future) I would opt for the 55 if the budget allows. I LOVE my 280 but I'm the type of person that always wants better. You can't go wrong either way!!!!! Aloha, Gary |

| Huh? My SLK 350 drives fine in the snow. I haven't had any more problem with it than any other car. (that means I haven't had any problem) I DO have winter wheels and tires and you have to do that because the factory tires aren't supposed to be operated below 45 deg F. |

In times long ago and far away, I used to drive my Corvette through numerous Iowa snows with no problems. And back then I was dumb enough (ie young) that I didn't even change to winter tires. Most of the problems with snow is due to driving style and not the car. IMHO. | |
