Default Extended warranty

Does anyone know of a extended warranty that I can purchase for my AMG SLK 55.

It seems most do not provide coverage for AMGs

I asked the same from the MB dealer that I bought it from; the finance director was willing to sell me the extended warranty - additional 3 years on top of the manufacturer's 4 years, ergo, total of 7 years and up to 100,000 miles (not sure on the mileage) and does not cover the cosmetic stuff for the cockpit or the usual wear and tear items, eg. brake pads, brake rotors or discs. Cost is almost $3,000.

His first question was: do you want to keep the car for a long period of time?

All i'd say is i know these cars have issues but no more than any other make/model and the 113 engine is a solid lump all of its issues have already been worked out.

Thats a lot of problems to add up to 3G's, with regular care and maintanance i don't see any major issues.

I am going to get an extended warranty when my car's warranty runs out in one years time, its a yearly cost of 400kd which is equivalent to around 1,000 dollars but by constantly getting extended warranties you create something called " a good will relationship" where you get to benefit up to 25% discount on parts, services and accessories.

As of now I am getting a good treatment since I've been going to the same service assistant for 11 years now.

Should I consider an extended warranty, I am partial to this because I think my SLK is very very reliable so far ?

Extended warranty is like insurance, I have extended warranty on my 2 other cars but so far they have not paid for themselves. But if you put a lot of miles on your car and you intend to keep it, then you should get it. But I think you can only get the factory extended warranty within the first year of the car, I think dealers do offer other types of extended warranty. If you want to cover brakes and stuff, you can buy the 3 years service contract which covers all service maintenance including wear and tear items like brakes, but my service adviser told me I would save more money just pay as I go.
