| I wondered if any other SLK owners had experienced the problem described in my posts on the R171 general discussion (thread: hello from new member) ? I haven't taken delivery of my 2004 SLK 350 yet as it failed its first MOT test by virtue of a hairline crack (salesman's words) in a spring. This worries me slightly - the car has covered only 17,000 miles - particularly as it was not picked up in the inspection by the dealer technician's as part of the preparation for delivery. Am I being over anxious ? Anyone have any views/thoughts ? Thanks Peter |

| By springs, I assume you mean suspension springs, if so, they should not fail at 17,000 miles, they are durable and should last a very long time. I wonder if you can get it replaced under warranty for a defective spring, if not, a set will cost ~$200. |

| If they are going to replace the springs anyway....why not have them put in Brabus Sport springs....I have/reccomend them. Difference in OEM ride is negligible but look is dramatic. |

| They don't make it easy to get them here, Brabus UK are ****e. As i said in the other thread probably a nasty impact with a pothole.
