| Hey everyone- Whats your opinion-If an owner wanted to repaint his/her SLK 320 from silver to a nice custom color Pewter/copper pearl or champagne metallic with a paint shop doing a first rate custom job door jambs, etc do you think it would kill resale value down the road as opposed to the original paint? Now I know some would think the car was hit or damaged but if that were not an issue what do you think? Transform the car to a beautiful fresh new custom color or keep it factory? Value retained or lose your shirt? The thrill of the feel............Mercedes. |

| It would damage resale how much really depends on your choice of color. Also you would want to do a proper job a complete strip down so you only have the shell left, otherwise i can guarantee it wont be worth anything.

| I would hope that most quality shops would pull all the glass out, bumpers and removable fenders off, hood and trunk off and maybe the roof. I say it depends on the color and if the car needs a paint jobs now or if it is just being done because a change is wanted. I know when looking at cars I won't even consider them if they are outlandish colors or something that looks like there is no way it was a factory color. With it being a 320 I wouldn't imagine the paint is in THAT bad of shape where it can't be polished out. |

| I like the Mercedes Desert silver which wasn't available on the SLK series just on the SL ,CL,ML and S-class.

| Saw some outrageous R170 in the UK Mercedes Enthusiast magazine. If your are going to repaint, do something unusual and use great paint, such as the Planet Earth colors from Sherwin Williams for vehicles. I like some of the custom paint jobs AMG has done with their prototypes. |
