Exclamation 01 Slk 320 Door Hinge Noise - Now What?

Hey All, New To The Site Today, And Have Recently Purchased A 2001 Slk 320 And When You Open And Close The Doors, Especially The Passenger Side, You Get All Sorts Of Noise Out Of The Hinge, What Do I Do, Can I Replace Something To Stop The Noise? If So, Where In The Heck Can I Get The Parts, I've Spent Hours On The Web To See If I Can Find Something - No Luck.... Anything Anyone Has As Far As Info, A Website, Shop Or Whatever - In Fixing This Would Be Great! A Car This Nice Shouldn't Sound Like It's Got Yugo Doors Ya Know?

Regards,
Kc

It could need anything from lubricating the hinge to adjusting the door ... A visit to a workshop doing bodywork would be recommended.

Welcome to slkworld !!

Exclamation thanks for info - he's more

it does seem to make a sort of metal on metal, clicking type sound, ya know, one of those damn noises you can never describe right.... What I'm wondering is if you can replace the hinge assembly, the doors don't sag or anything like that and they're not hard to close, just noisy as all hell when you open and close them, so it's more of an agro thing than something I have to do... but the car it totally perfect, except for that, has anyone else had that problem? if so, can you replace the hinge easily? I am very handy with autos. Any further help would be great, and thanks for the welcome to the site again!

Cheers,
Keith

My suggestion would be to lubricate the hinge well (try using a few drops only of motor oil). If this doesn't work, then ask your local MB for the parts nos.

You may want to make sure it is the hinge and nothing else causing the metal on metal sound.

Try etyu's suggestion first and then like he say ask for part numbers it should not be too hard to do the job at all also look at the striker plate and check it for damage the door could be smacking it when its closed.

Cheers
Dan

Have you oiled it yet???

Chain lube in a spray can works good as it goes in runny and sets like grease.
