Default Hello. Greetings everyone. Intro & questions. Pictures!!

Hello guys.
Obviously, I am new here.
But definitely not new to the euro/rwd scene.
See pictures below.
I am now taking over a 1998 SLK - Yellow.
SLK 230, Auto, 32,000 miles. Car is bone stock.
I am going to run the following modifications:

Wanna keep it as subtle as possible and Easy daily driver.

Questions below are in ( ). Please advice.

1. Smooth and paint front and rear valances, as well as lower side moldings to body color.
2. Lower car 1.5" all around with Eibach springs and Bilstien shocks. I am done with coilovers.
3. Wheels - 18x8/9 AMG Monoblocs Replica's.
225/40-18 front 235 35 18 rear
(correct tire sizes for a lil stretch look?)
4. Kenwood single din Nav Unit with dvd player.
5. Upgrade headlights to clear lens.
(Need info on headlights)
6. Remus Axle back dual single rounds.
(some sound clips from you guys would be great.)
7. Newer OEM 3 Spoke steering wheel.
(Need some input on this too.)

I guess that would be it for now. Here are some pictures of what I have/had. Too many modifications to list.

Show Monster: VR6 jetta. 190 Whp/WTQ. Multiple trophies and some magzine coverage.

Track monster: 1995 M Edition Miata:

Best Regards,
Ivan

1. great!
2. Bilstein offers a set incl. springs for the R170
3. 8+9x18 and 225 and 245, then you can go for spacers, too.
5. You find clear indicators, too. Here you find anything you need: http://www.mekkes.de/netscape/
6. the only good factory exhaust for the R170 you find at Supersprint, there are several versions!
7. There are lots of steeringwheels available for the R170. Wood, carbon - just have a look in the net.

And: Welcome from Germany

First off, thank you for your warm welcomes.
I live in Sacramento, CA as well as San Gabriel Valley, CA. I travel a lot back and forth those two places.

Thank you for your input. But I can't read german. Would I have rubbing issues with 245 in the rear? Also, can you please give me more information on the steering wheel as well as headlights? I would really like to keep it oem, but going aftermarket is also an option as long as I don't get the air bag light.

There are no problems expected with the rubber. Some friends are driving 9,5 with 255 tyres with no problems.

Write Mekkes, He´s able to talk and write English. Don´t worry. He´s the guy for all R170 specials in Germany. Headlight and indicator are two pieces, you have to order them extra. The tyre and intercooler pope you find here: Gerhard.Pralle@gaa-ce.Niedersachsen.de
Gerd is very nice too and he´s talking English. Send regards from Gero.

There are too many steeringwheels in the market. Search at Google and Ebay, you´ll find a lot. www.eris-car.de is one of the shops. Carlsson.de, brabus.de, kicherer.net ...

Thank you so much. I will send regards to them as soon as I free up some time.

as for steering wheel, i would like this one as pictured:

I would like info as to where I can find that. i jus want a simple 3 spoke as i won't be using the multi functions like the new ones. I would really really like to keep my air bag, as all my previous cars had quick releases and aftermarket steering wheels.

However, I wouldn't mind going aftermarket if there is a way to allow the airbags to still function properly.

John, that´s no miracle The SLK is a German car and in Germany you find a lot of supplier. And: sometimes I´m looking in magazines (one of them is Mercedes Tuner) to write some companies to support our site (www.owl-slk.de). Meanwhile more than 200 - about 30 wrote back, 9 support us. And if those 9* have some news, I get it on my desk.

* - this 9 are paying our server costs and our spring festival. Last time: more than 50 people - beer, wine, water, coke, lots of food for the whole night.

Wow Gabus, that´s a nice one
