| Went on a 332 mile ride yesterday. 90 percent highway miles with cruise control set to 80mph with Top down. (Highway posted speed limit is 75mph) Got 25mpg. Sure seems like I should get better than that with my 4 cyl engine? ![]() Noticed 2 new silver SLK's out and about too! ![]() Got a few thumbs ups and nods of approvals. Sure is fun driving an SLK! ![]() SLKman

| get some green filter's, might add a couple of miles per gallon, not sure why as my SLK350 gets 25-27mpg in the city, 30 plus on the highway, mostly conservative driving on public roads. |

| the trip down to central Cal I took in the SLK55 averaged 23.5mpg down US101 and I wasn't trying to go for the mpg. On the return leg out to the coast and back up Hwy1 from Hearst Castle the average was 22.4 or so. The weekend averaged 22 and change for about 380 miles. I was impressed. |

| With the cruise set around 70, I get about 26-27 mpg on mine - not bad at all for the type of car IMO.

| Hm...i haven't broken 22 mpg in a LONG time....anyone figure out the most efficient cruising speed? it seems to be 70 mph? My typical route includes 4 ramps/interchanges, so i always power out of those...i guess that doesn't help... |

| ok somethign MUST be wrong with my car then, i can put my cruise on 75 and only get like 25 mpg. Heavy chrome rims? Top down drag? Unless you reset the odometer that says your avg gas mile, how are you knowing your gas mileage. I had a 99 durango that had a screen where the temp gauge was (top mid lots of suv's have them over there rear view mirros) it would tell me my gas mileage i was getting at that exact time, and my average on another scroll. (if i punched it, it would shoot down, and coasting down a hill it was interesting watching the mileage go way up!) Im surprised our cars dont have somethign like that almost ten years later. Is there a way to add that to be viewed. I mean if it does the avg, it calculates the instant ranging gas mileage........ sigh |

| SLKman, I get less than 20 MPG but if I get a chance to run in cruse control at 68 MPH for a tank (<2600 RPM for SC kick in), I'd probably get over 30 MPG. |

| Just got back from driving 800 miles to South Carolina. Got 30 MPG doing between 65 and 80 MPH without using cruise control. I didn't have the top down though. |

| SLKMan, I was driving from New York to South Carolina so it was all downhill. Perhaps that's why I got such good gas mileage. |

. . . North to South. . . obviously downhill.70 mph around here could get you run down!!! I quit trying to figure out my mileage as everything is in liters here, but before I left the States, I was getting 27 highway/23 city mixed. I'm certain my mileage now is more closer to the upper teens. Constant 100+ mph speeds will do that. ![]() Brent, I'm sure the top down is why you're mileage is lower. Side Note: I managed 155 mph with the top down a couple of weeks ago. . . slight downhill grade. woohoo!!
